Hey All,
Been a long while since I posted here on the forum, as I no longer have any S&W revolvers :(

I just picked up this Colt Wiley Clapp CCO, and wanted to show some pics, just for sheer viewing pleasure...

No rounds downrange yet, but will remedy that, later this week.

This is a 7 shot 45ACP, Officer's frame with a Commander Slide, which is my perfect carry auto.

That's a nice looking pistol. Does it use the Series 70 or the Series 80 action?

Glad you posted. That Wiley Clapp is one slick unit. I read an article on it awhile back and it got stellar reviews. Congrats on a nice piece.

One of Colts better 1911 variations. Their build quality seems better now than ever so I hope they don't go belly up with their current bankruptcy. This is a good time to buy any Colts you may have been thinking about.

Colt Wiley Clapp CCO:

I hiked in to my favorite back woods “range” this morning, deep in the hills of Vermont, to break in my new CCO.

I brought along 150 rounds of 230gr Winchester White Box and 50 rounds of Blazer Brass (230gr) as well as 40 rounds of 185gr Winchester Silvertip Hollowpoints.

The pistol had been field stripped and cleaned, and lubed with Enos Slide Glide (Medium).

The magazines had been loaded for 4 days, to get the springs compressed. (2 Wilson Combat 7 rounders and 2 factory Colt mags)

Challis bushings with O rings and VZ grips are installed on this pistol. (no loose screws or grips during the entire range trip)

How did it function, you ask? 250 rounds of FLAWLESS operation!

NO hiccups of ANY kind, which was a HUGE deal to me……as I will relate in a moment.

The pistol was more accurate that I was, with my very first shot nailing the target dead center (from 7 yds out).

Brass was ejected cleanly from about the 3 o’clock to 5 o’clock position, and perhaps 4 to 8 ft away?

The front strap checkering was aggressive but confidence inspiring, as the pistol stays glued to your hand.

The stubby thumb safety, while difficult to operate at first, soon became second nature and operating cleanly…..if a bit stiff towards the “on” position.

After 100 rounds, I swabbed the barrel out with a bore snake, and used Q-tips on the feed ramp and breech face.

By the time I had fired 150 rounds through the pistol, I was getting cocky with rapid fire sequences that felt like I had owned this gun for years!

Trigger pull is super clean, with minimal reset. I never once even pondered the trigger pull poundage, which tells me that it is perfect for my needs.

Overall, this Colt gave me ZERO complaints, and I am very happy to have a new concealed carry pistol.

(I like this pistol much better than the Dan Wesson CCO that I used to own….but will save the head to head comparisons for another thread……)

Thanks Shorty,
I've only shot it the one time so far....but carry it often and it lives on the nightstand in the evenings......

I've got some heavy duty bids in on GB right now, for a couple different S&W snubs, so if I win.....watch for the Colt to go up for sale here on the forum!

What?!?! I thought you were half joking about selling it for the 66-2. (not that I blame you for wanting one. :D) Granted I'm not one to be talking. I once bought a pistol then went home and saw another gun I had been wanting for awhile on a local board for a great price and he listed it as one of the trades...swapped the next day.:D:o

And thanks for the heads up on the chance you might sell it as I would love to own one, but I'm broke right now and how could I keep on ragging the 1911 guys. :D
