Does anybody own one? Have any experience with them? Have any idea of their value? I imagine it is a kicker, as light as it is. Thanks for any input.

I couldn't help it, I went back and bought it. Got the rings/mounts, sling, and five cartridges.

I've got one in .06 that I've had for a good number of years. It's never lost it's original zero, killed a few Mule deer, Caribou and Black Bears along the way....it's a simple no frills rifle. As to value - who knows....it's got a Colt name on it, made by someone else????...... Mine has a very nice factory trigger and just plain works. It does kick, but only on the range....when the targets are walking and breathing, I've never noticed. :) good purchase I say! I'm looking forward to others comments that might own them - I think it was one of those limited time "sleepers" that came through unnoticed.

I want to say they were made by Saco, though others try to associate them with Ultra Light Arms...
Early on they had some issues with the trigger and FP, but they seemed good rifles overall. I remember seeing them selling in Cdnn for 399.00 years ago.

I' ve heard of a Saco company somewhere, but not as a maker of Colt rifles. Some were made by Sako in Finland and were very fine arms. One model was called the Coltsman.
The forearm tip was canted in a reverse Weatherby manner, as on similar Sakos, and I was left totally cold by that. But unless that put you off aesthetically, they're excellent rifles. And I think some may have had the normal Weatherby style, which was what they should have been.

I've never seen the rifle shown here. A good side-on pic and a close-up of the action would be very informative.

I think Saco Armament was the firm that supplied SIG-Sauer P-226 pistols to the USAF trials that resulted in adoption of the M-9 Beretta pistol. I don't think Saco made guns.

You're probably confusing them with Sako, pronounced as Sock-o. This is the correct pronunciation, according to both the company and to the Finnish Embassy personnel whom I asked, and to a Finnish exchange student who owns one.

The left side of the receiver is stamped Light Rifle, Saco, ME, made in the USA, and has the Colt emblem to the left of the words.

I will post better photos when I get the scope mounted.

I did phone the New Ultra Light Arms Co. and inquire about the rifle. NULA will work on these, though the person I spoke with said it likely will last forever and never need repairs. He said this was a fine rifle. I certainly hope so.

Well, it certainly does shoot. I put nine rounds through it before the rain rolled back in. It also recoils more than my battered shoulder likes.

An excellent tutorial on the pronunciation and spelling of Sako. Thanks.:D

Colbybruce;

I almost purchased one when I was working part time at a large LGS. I thought they would make a nice hunting rifle and the price was super low.

There had been a recall but late released rifles were fixed prior to shipping.

Read the link I attached. One gentleman espouses most of what I remember reading. It is a good rifle. And my 1st custom rifle was in 6.5 by 55. Awesome white tail gun. Great choice.
