Box

Here is the box, held together with scotch tape. I removed all the tape, took the box apart and backed it with construction board. Don't know if I'll attempt any further cosmetics

I liked Colt's old brown wood-look boxes better, but that's a fine gun. No wonder you bought it!

How's it shoot? Mine was quite accurate. It'd put a magazine full into a space I could cover with the palm of my hand at 25 yds., shooting offhand. That's about what I can do with a std. gun. I had a Gold Cup that was uncannily accurate with Federal's 230 grain Match ammo.

My very first Colt was a series 80 I bought in '84-'85,but it had the small sights.Wish I had kept it QUOTE]

I suspect we all had guns we wish we kept, I sure do. In fact I let one go this afternoon to help finance this one. But I did get the pleasure of bringing it home and cleaning it and giving it some love before sending it off.

The Colt 1911 Government Model is THE original...My old, blued Series 80 is still my favorite. That's a fine pistol!

I just picked one up in nickel to replace the one I traded in on a redhawk.
I got one back after all these years. I have only one more to replace.

When it first came out the Series 80 was heavily criticized by "old school" 1911 and Series 70 lovers. I never understood that. I think it had something to do with the firing pin safety. I bought one in '86 and I love it.

You can do a search on google for Randy's Toy Shop, They do cardboard box restorations, toy's, razors, etc...
