Guys, I have a question. I was thinking about getting a Glock 42 but heard the Mustang is more accurate. Do you all agree? The only thing I do not like about the Mustang is single stage trigger and having to carry cocked and locked. Wonder if there are any CC holsters available.

From a fixed rest, I doubt one is better than the other.

The Mustang is a single action pistol a la 1911: exceptional design and most likely to win an inherent accuracy contest.

The trigger on the Colt is superior to the Glock, although some can benefit from a visit to a competent gunsmith

1911's should be carried cocked and locked and the operator needs to know what she's about. The manual of arms for the 1911 is straightforward and readily learned.

You do need to put more effort into learning the 1911 than some of the contemporary Tupperware pistols. Unless you do, you're unlikely to appreciate the 1911.

I'd chose the Colt over the Glock because I like 1911 style pistols.

I have one of the older Colt Government Pocketlites. It is a little bigger than the Mustang, but is a great shooter.

I don't carry it, as I have other pistols that are close to the same size but are 9mm... I've never carried cocked and locked either, so it would be a different manual of arms than what I am accustomed to.

I have just seen (this weekend) a mustang in the old SS model. I want one.

Last week a friend of mine got his Glock 42 and a Crimson Trace laser grip. He asked me to sight in his gun/laser at a distance of 10 yards. The above picture is a 4 shot group that I shot off-hand at 10 yards. My friend took the picture and said that he was very happy with the Glock's performance. If your results are different...................it probably isn't the gun. FYI, there was a 1" shoot-n-see dot where the hole is now.

This seems pretty much the operative thinking these days regarding some of the mini-.380s that are not all that mini (like the Colt and the Glock). Given that .380 ammunition is not cheap and 9mm is considerably more reasonable, you might find a 9mm you like that is not much bigger than either of the .380s you mention that would be both more economical and more powerful.

But back to the question, I agree with Rpg's post, though I might add I personally would not care for the Colt in C1 in pocket carry, if that would be a factor. If carried on the belt, I would prefer the Colt, but like Rpg I am familiar with the 1911 pattern and prefer its features over any other pistol made.

Consider the little 9mms, if you think they might work for you - they will save you $$ in the long run. Good luck with your choice. :)

It's hard to believe a Glock can be as accurate as a 1911. My Glock 34 is good for combat accuracy even with a Barstow match, a pyramid trigger. The only thing I am worried about the Colt Mustang is carrying cocked and locked,
