Colt Mustang or S&W BG380 for concealed carry? I prefer the Colt because I don't like the double action trigger on the bodyguard. That and the Mustang is just awesome. What do you think?

I'm so happy with my LCP that it would be hard to justify, but I'd like to get a Kahr CW380. I know, you asked about apples and oranges and I responded with grapes and pears, but...

I have a had a Kel tec, Ruger, and Taurus .380 and they were all accurate and reliable but the Taurus TCP was the best of the bunch and it was only 200 bucks. My neighbor just bought a Smith BG and I liked it but the double action trigger was long and HEAVY. Since a .380 is a pocket gun to me I wouldn't want a cocked and locked handgun in my pocket.

I have a Kahr CW380 that I carry sometimes (my main carry gun is a M&P 9C). I really like the Kahr. It has the sweetest, smoothest trigger pull of any DA gun I've ever fired; like a hot knife through butter. The quality, fit & finish, and tight tolerances are terrific. It runs like a little Swiss watch. That being said, Kahrs require a 200+ round "break-in" period. Mine had a few failure-to-feed during the break-in, but is now 100% reliable. It's not fussy about ammo, will run anything from WWB flat-nose FMJ to Hornady Critical Duty(my carry ammo).

I can't speak for the BG or the new Mustangs. But I do have one of the older Mustangs and its the best .380 I own. :D

If I was gonna buy a S&W Bodyguard .380, I'd get the new one without the laser. Anything I'd shoot at with a .380 would only be 10' max away from me anyhow.

If I had the funds to choose I would pick the Mustang Pockelite myself. But would certainly settle for an XSP.... Awesome gun. I just prefer the look of the Pocketlite. I have a BG380 but haven't had a chance to take it out for a trial yet.

I can't speak to the XSP but I have the Pocketlite alloy frame. Because I am most familiar with the 1911, I prefer the Mustang and it's my daily carry. I do carry it in a soft holster in my pocket that covers the safety and trigger.

I've had a few of the older Mustangs; the one that saw the most use was a Stainless Pocketlite. After about 600 rounds it began to peen where the breech of the barrel slammed down on the alloy frame when unlocking. My main problem with them is a fat trigger finger (I ran it betewen the belt and sprocket of a swamp cooler); the Mustang has a groove in the bottom of the trigger guard, and when the trigger returns it pinches my finger. I don't know whether the new ones are like that. I think the SIG P 238 (?), has slightly different shapes down there so that doesn't hapen. All of my Mustangs have been dead reliable with anything including my cast bullet handloads, and accurate enough for head shots at 25 yds. I'm an old 45 shooter so I like the placement of the controls just like on the 45.
