I went in to pick up a 2.5" Python I recently bought off the forum and spotted this in the revolver section. Uh oh...

Never even heard of it..matter of fact Jesse (the owner) didn't know it was "different" than a regular Python till I pointed it out.

That unfluted cylinder really makes it pop.

He said he just ordered it because he liked the look..and he isn't even a revolver guy.

Trigger is superb out of the box and the front sight is Trigicon.

Looks like it's gonna be a two horsepower ride home..:)

Al approves..even though it isn't a S&W.

IMHO, these are a really fun option as a collector or CCL.

Unfluted revolvers bring me back to 1980s early 1990s unfluted S&W Classic Hunter and others.

It may be prudent to pick up if there is interest, not sure what the future holds for these...(not clairvoyant, also not a Colt Sales Rep., just some thoughts).

Saw one at the Alexandria, La gun show today - I liked it. Around $1500 IIRC. But as a collector more than a shooter, I only buy the older guns. I still appreciate them all though.

Paid $1.4k with tax and he waived the transfer fee for the incoming revolver.
In my lifetime left, I doubt they will rise much in value, other than through inflation, but I didn't buy them to make money. They are just a wonderful high quality, great shooting firearm and I intend to enjoy them as such. Now I'm off to Altamonts as I saw some really nice combat grips on their site that should be perfect for this gun.

New grips. Not Altamonts (2-4 week wait) but some "off shore" units I bought previously. They are very comfortable. I may undercut the top groove a little as under recoil it does pinch that (fat) finger a bit. I am SO impressssed with this revolver.

While on the Altamont site I saw this engraved 4" Python. I don't have a 4"...Inquiry sent.. :)

I just got to see two of the new matte-finish versions yesterday, a 3" and a 6". It sure looks good, but I can see it showing every nudge, bump and scratch that it will endure over it's life. They were both priced at $250 less than their polished kin.

I would not doubt the appearance of more variations of this revolver. Once you get over it being a Colt..it's becomes a brother from another mother. I hate that saying but it does apply.

Me..I prefer the square butt but I would opt for a smoother wider trigger in a heartbeat. It's not a deal breaker by any means..but better is always....better!

It's pretty cool to see a great old company like Colt get purchased by some new blood (CZ) and breathe some real life into it's product line.

I wish more "domestic" companies would see the merit in this philosophy. Want to make America great again? That would be a start.

These really need a round butt and a smooth combat trigger.

Breakaway - very cool gun. I would really like it much better with a fluted cylinder. I like the VZ grips !
I still miss my pythons from an earlier time - 2.5 inch blued and 4 inch Coltguard (electroless nickel)….. who knew …..

Held one yesterday that the LGS had, very nice, but beefy as hell. The stocks were very fat and my hands are not small, I liked it. They also had the Blue/black finished Python which didn’t look so great

I picked up the stainless 2.5" snake yesterday and love it! This is python #7 for me (vintage and new) It is my first snub python and yes...it will rotate in as my ccw. Still waiting on the blued snub version as well as a 5".
