I thought the full checkered stocks were not changed until 1965.Am I off on my date, or are those replacement stocks.

That gun is 8 years older than me.

Excellent condition. Clearly fired little, if at all. Are you planning to actually use it or will it be a safe queen?

May I ask how much you paid for it? I'm not sure about the etiquette on that; perhaps doing so is on par with asking a woman her weight. Sorry if I was out of line in asking such a question.

As I understand it Colt switched from the fully checkered type I stocks to the ones on Docs gun (Type II) in 1961.

I bought the Python about twenty years ago for $650. I hadn't paid much attention to Pythons until the last year or so and was very surprised at what they are selling for now.

I balked at the $439 price tag back in 1983 and wound up buying a (new model back then) S&W M586 6" for $283. NOW I wish I had bought 1000 of them high priced snakes! Still have and love the M586, but a Python is just sooooooo coooool!

That pic made me watch Magnum Force again last night. I miss carrying my Python on duty.
