Colt SAA

[CLASSIC12]

Finally bought my first Colt Single Action Army. Made in 1979, 7 1/2” barrel, .45 Colt caliber, colour cased. Looks almost new except for a couple of small handling marks. Paid $ 1300 which I think is reasonable, most of them here (Switzerland) are advertised for quite a bit more.

And I already have a few boxes of ammo for it

Colt SAA is my favorite handgun.
Great price.

I don't reload and 45colt is expensive.
Bought this Colt SAA second gen for a shooter.
1969 .357 Some what scarce configuration.

No wonder I can’t find any .45 Colt ammo here in the states! that is a real bargain for that gun right now in the U.S. The early 80s was notorious for Colt putting guns together with bad fitting, over polishing, and dull case colors. Not the case here in 1979. It’s beautiful. Right now people are ordering Standard Arms Single Actions for around $1800. You got the real thing for $500 less.

I've always liked SAAs, even though I've never fired, let alone handled, one. Someday I'd like to get an Artillery model, probably from one of the current reproduction makers.

No Colts (yet), but I love my Ubertis and Rugers, I'll definitely jump on a Colt SAA when I come across one. All .45LC here.

USFA made some really fine guns, too bad they decided not to continue. Their quality was equal or better, imo, to what Colt was putting out.
I was about to buy another when they shut down SAA production.

That's a fine looking USFA.

I've got one just like it. It's action is better than my buddy's 2nd Gen SAA.

Picked up this 1966 2nd gen Colt in 44spl at Louisville gunshow 2 weeks ago. I had the stags waiting in the grip box for the right gun to come along. And its a shooter too.

I took it to the 25 meter indoor range and shot about 70 rounds in two different sessions. Tried one-handed and two-handed, one-handed being quite difficult for me since I’ve hardly ever shot like that in the last 30 years. It shoots a bit left for me, not much I can do about it except aiming right.

Not a precision or match gun but lots of fun though

Let me tell you how I adjusted my SAA to shoot 3" right at 25 yds. I took my trigger finger off the side of the frame.

I wouldn't have the confidence to do it, but I recall someone — Charlie Askins? — bending the front sight to correct windage.

Ubert .32-20 WCF, 4 3/4" barrel

Colt 3rd Gen. .44 Spl. with Sambar Stag stocks. This gun is missing in action for now. Hopefully I'll find it.
