After stopping at the grocery store to pick up a prescription after work last night, I walked over to the magazine racks to see which gun and photography magazines had come in.

To my surprise, I saw "Combat Handguns", which recently ceased publication. I doubted it could be an old issue, since there hadn't been any in the rack for months.

Indeed it was a new issue, with an editor's message announcing its return.

I haven't read it yet, but probably will Monday morning when I stop at McDonald's before work.

I'm taking this as a good omen...

It should be a good omen. See who is now writing for it that, could tell a story! New people Vs old people!

I don't believe so.

Well, look on the masthead and see. The publisher will be listed, along with editors and staff writers.

I hope it's someone else. I used to write for one of their titles, and they were VERY focused on pleasing advertisers.
That said, Combat Handguns had a lot of useful info.

Wait: did you buy a copy, or are you just going to read it in the coffee shop? Does McDonald's even sell magazines there?

I'll look for it at the grocer. I hope it's more than just hype for their advertisers. That affects ALL gun titles, but some more than others. Ditto for knife magazines.

I did some freelance writing for Harris Publications and never felt pressure to write around their advertisers. I dealt with editor Harry Kane and always thought he put out a quality product.

I'll have to get over to the neighborhood grocery store and check out the new Combat Handguns. Although I do most my reading on line now, and mostly here as a matter of fact.

I was surprised when I found a new copy of Combat Handguns in my mailbox. I'd written off my subscription as a lost cause when they ceased publication. I love the magazine and was disappointed at that time....now I get to read it again!

They have a new publisher and are soliciting readers to tell them what we like and want to see in the future issues! Yeah baby!

I might read it they have writers who discuss the gun in hand instead of blustering on about how much they love the 1911 trigger.

Clapp cannot pick up a striker fired or DA/SA gun without going over the 1911 trigger, AGAIN.

I bought the latest copy at wally world this morning and it looks the same as the Harris version. however I think the magazine was better before they went to the color version. considering the finish of most handguns these days I don't really need a color picture of a glock and others. they could knock a dollar off the price as I think that $6 is getting close to the most that I want to pay for a magazine.

That was a problem for the Harris titles like, Tactical Knives. An ordinary issue cost as much as an annual from G&A, etc.
