Did a gunshow, had to buy this at $549. Bit o' rust on the butt, missing the lanyard loop, but otherwise all good. Excellent action. All matching.

Not sure how much interest there is in these commercial guns. I find them very neat, and I figure this one will be a hoot to shoot. Plus, you know, dirt cheap.

I'm very jealous, that's a honey. I've sadly paid more for less. I think it was a law back then that a .44, .45 or .455 revolver had to have a lanyard ring and lanyard to protect the shooter's foot in case it was ever dropped. Of course this mandated safety feature only works if the lanyard is around the shooters neck.

Nice piece and good buy!

My Commercial 1917 is serial 184505. Mine had been refinished when I got it at a local auction for a bid of $300 ($350 OTD) in 2016. Hadn't intended to buy it and didn't know anything about them but when the bids stopped at $275, I jumped in at $300 and got it. I Excellent mechanical. Lots of fun at the range.

I appreciate when someone shares the cost of something they bought. It keeps me abreast of current prices.

So much better than the "Did I pay too much?' posts, where they don't provide a price, want an appraisal based on a vague description, won't state the price unless pressed by the forum members.
I chuckle with similar posts where the price isn't stated, in fact it's deemed unimportant as the gun will never be sold, yet in the very next follow up post, he can't help himself. The "What's it worth?" question invariably comes out.

Seems like a pretty important piece of information to a collecting community such as this. I will usually note what I paid for something so that people can file that away in the old brain bank. It's a real positive thing in my opinion that people around here are free with valuations.

In the case of this gun I think I got a real deal, but that's also useful because it means that real deals are still out there for anyone looking for them. Never lose hope!
