Just wanted to show you the subtle way they promote one party over the other in my kid's class....for information only, please don't turn this into a political thread.

Guess they threw in Lincoln to make it less obvious....

Unless they're doing some new kind of averaging, the answers should be
A. 750,000 to 849,999
B. 395,000 to 404,999
C. 29,500 to 30,499

In either case, the answers written do not show a consistent method; A has a different method than B or C.

Since when did MATH

become

Pictures and words being equally important as numbers?

If 2+2=4 then orange + orange does not equal 4

Did you realize those "numbers," that you are insinuating as superior to pictures and words, are in fact Arabic symbols representing a quantity? ;)

Without algebra there would be no calculus without calculus there would be no physics. Not sure how they will try to apply common core to level the playing field?

If I know X+12= 16 then x must be 4 then why would I miss it when some other student drew 12 pears and 4 apples to get the same answer. Common core is junk made to equal what must seem to the people that benefit from it an uneven playing field.

They had a segment on the new math on Fox this am...You got to be kidding...How can any teacher in good conscious teach that confusing stuff......stuff is a replacement word.. I get in enough trouble....Wonder why our educational ranking has slipped down be some other nations!! When will we get back to basic education..like geography and God forbid history.....

Common for one culture to take from another ..

Well, I'm out of skule, my kids are all out of skule so I really don't care any moore The only math I kneed to know practicing law is how to divide by 3 :D And as far as writing, you have to keep it below a third grade level anyway otherwise the judges can't follow your argument.

Trying not to turn this political.

Just Google common core. There are good videos that explain how it works. The math answers are completely different from math as we know it. No Child left behind was pretty dumb but this....this is just made up.

The one specific example I remember very well was that the kids were broken up into groups of 4. Each group was given a problem to solve. The correct answer was whatever they all agreed on. If 3 students thought that 1+1 = ketchup and 4th student though the answer was 2 then the first three would be correct and the 4th student would fail the excersisce.
