Compensator recommendations

I have an M&P Pro 9mm. Installed a 5.7" Storm Lake threaded barrel. Would like recommendations on a compensator.

I can't help you on a recommendation on what compensator to go with.
But from my experience.
I made two different ported compensators for my 9mm. One was a three port the other was a four port. With the three port I could almost shoot any factory Ammo with no issues. When I went to the four port the problems began. I had to shoot ammo that where loaded with 7.8g or higher, bought a 15,14,13,12lb spring ended up using the 13lb spring. Finally I tuned it in. Plus I added a 85 gram weight into the compensator to help balance the pistol out with the 25 round mags I use.

Would you like to make another three port compensator in 1/2-28"? I'll buy! Would like to have that for the threaded barrels I have for a Shield and a VP9. Even played around with lighter recoil springs on the VP9 and it still wouldn't cycle factory ammo.

I've been using compensators for quite a while, and what I've found is that when using a comp with standard factory ammo, the comp is little more than a piece of weight on the end of the barrel. It helps with recoil management, but not in the way it was intended. I've found that one needs to tailor the load to the particular pistol and comp to get it to work as intended. There are a quite a few major loads that will work (look at some of the competition forums for recipes) quite well. Here's a picture of a couple of my open guns (one a M&P, and the other and STI). The M&P will only last about a year and a half of shooting 9 major before the slide cracks eek But it is a flat shooting wonder while it lasts.Hope this helps (BTW, my M&P comps were Carver and SJC, I preferred the Carver)

Can you name a few of the competition forums? I haven't been able to find any on my own. I've used 135gr to cycle a couple comps on a couple pistols but it's not 100%.

And am I reading this right? The M&P slide CRACKS??? from the use of a comp?

The slide cracks because of using 9 Major ammo (I've cracked 2 of them), the STI is going on the end of the second season. There is no such thing as factory major ammo, you need to make your own, and the bullet weight is only a small element in the power factor calculation. The Brian Enos forum is one forum that speaks in depth about competition handloading.

I Will also try a shock buff to help with the cracking issue. And maybe MORE slide lightening.

I'm very interested in this CRACK from a tool maker view......

I see it started at the upper edge of the ejection port? On the inside is it near a sharp corner /90 degree area?
