Hi guys,

I have an unplanned trip to Texas next week. I have one free day and thought it might be cool to get a concealed carry permit. I looked at the Texas rules and they will grant a permit to someone from out of state. It looks like the class and testing can be done in about 5 hours.

Do any of you Houston guys have a recommendation for a class or instructor.

Thanks,
Dave

Welcome to SE Texas, Dave!

Houston's my hometown, but is sure isn't the same city I grew up in. I don't care to go into Harris County unless I really have to.

What part of town will you be staying in?

Believe me, with Houston's traffic and you not being from the area, that is a real consideration. Your class is way down almost to Pearland. That's quite a haul from places like the Energy Corridor. On the bright side, Bass Pro Shop - Pearland is just around the corner from them.

Thank you. Brenda is going to meet me close to where I'm staying...which is near the Galleria. She will set up the range visit at Top Gun or someplace close by. She's making it easy for me which I appreciate.
Guess I'll actually have a reason for getting another gun.

Dave

Athena Gun Club is right on I-10 near the energy corridor/Galleria if you are looking for a nice place to shoot. Not to be missed is nearby Collector's Firearms, it is as much a museum as a gun store, and is the best of both in the region. It does not look like much from outside, but the selection of firearms (new & used) is first class, My recommended instructor is Marc Robinson, but it is his weekend job.

Thanks Rick. That looks like a great indoor range. I will definitely go spend some money with them. Thanks for the tip,
Dave
