Concealed while Driving

I love the responses. I went for a drive last night and kind of figured a good way to carry and it is pretty simple. I normally carry at 4 o clock but while driving i move it to 3 o clock and tuck shirt in around my holster. I did forget to intuck while getting out of the car and might have been spotted. But i will get used to it.

One thing for sure ...... don't trap your cover garment under the seat-belt.

Appendix carry holster is the only holster position that allows access without interference by the seat belt.

Some guys don't have a seat belt problem ....... they have a beer gut problem......

Luckily I'm not one of them..............

I carry at 4 o'clock whether I'm driving or not (right-handed). I keep it there when driving because if I'm ever approached at gunpoint and the BG wants my wallet, I'll say, "Okay. Let me get it for you". If the situation is conducive, I'll then reach back (as if to get my wallet out of my back pocket) and draw on him/her just like the guy in this video ...

I carry at 4-5 IWB or OWB and when driving either of my Jeeps the
center console covers my weapon from a right side view and my body the left or drivers side view .. My seat belt fastens below my weapon and I lift my shirt to between the grip and my side while driving ..

One hint if ever waiting in line .. leave enough space to be able to evade by driving off and NEVER EVER put the vehicle in neutral or park while in a line where you can't floor it and drive away at an instance .. That may be your best and the most effective defensive maneuver you can make .. knowing where your electric window switch by feel can/could be helpful most people have to look at it to use it .. do you ??

I rarely put my window down—even when the roof is retracted.

Why the window down? So the gun shots aren't so loud in the car? The window being up sounds like a better idea. One more barrier that they have to cross, but if they're armed anyway, I'm down for less noise. I'm good with window actuators but the door locks are horrible. I can't find them.

AISW for the Win ...

I conceal while driving the same way I conceal while walking . . .

As do I Muss, AISW with even my 3" Krame is comfortable, and access is quick in the car, even belted in.

I am just curious how some of you conceal while driving. I normally carry IWB at around 4 o'clock. I may be overthinking but it crossed my mind that if a situation came up, it would take long to get unbuckled (seatbelt) and draw my firearm.

I find that pocket carrying in my cargo pocket works but there will be times when i am not wearing those. Then there is also the transition from pocket to IWB.

Am i overthinking that a bad situation could happen while driving? Should i just stick to IWB while driving and train to draw faster? Again, how do you conceal while driving?

Here in Nevada there's no need to conceal while driving... one can put the gun anywhere in the car, hidden or not. I usually just put it on the passenger seat...easily accessible that way.

If something bad happens while you're driving, your brake and gas pedals will work better than your gun. I always wonder why the 1%er bikers try to look so tough while they're bikering down the freeway. They look pretty vulnerable to me while I'm driving my truck. I guess some guys are thinking: "Hmm, if something 'goes down', I'm going to unbuckle my seat belt, steer with one hand, draw with the other hand and tell my wife to dial 911."

I'm thinking: "Swerve left, stand on brakes. Accelerate. Swerve right. Stand on brakes. Accelerate. Call 911 at next rest stop."

If something bad happens while you're driving...

I'm thinking the chances of something "bad" happening are greater when stopped, parked, or getting into/out of the vehicle.

See a lot of people laying their pistol on the seat or in a door pocket .. have even heard people say they lay it in their lap while driving ..

Daughter-in-law was in a wreck woman ran a stop light and broadsided her .. the passenger side window was down about 6 inches her phone was in the map pocket on the drivers door .. It was found 60 some feet from where the car came to a stop .. secure your weapon so it won't move !!! In a wreck it won't be where you laid it !!!! And may not even be in the vehicle ..
