Concern on buying on line, a LOT!

You will always pay for "convenience." I won't ever buy online again. NIB means new in box, not scratched and in an old KFC box. I will invest 8-12 Saturday mornings a year and around $100 to get my old carcass to a gun show. I went 6 weeks ago, had a great time and picked this up for $355. Check what they go for on GoneBroker. Joe

I have bought most of my guns(handguns & rifles) on the
internet. Better selection. Gun Broker is where I go most of
the time. I have bought several S&W revolvers on this forum
with great success.

The first thing I do is check the seller's feedback. Then I check
to see if he has a 3 day return policy, and what he charges to
ship the gun. If the item description is lacking or the pictures
are not detailed enough. I ask for more pictures and ask more
detailed questions about the gun. If they do not respond, I
move on.

Another thing I look for is if I can use my CC with no 3% fee
most people charge. In January and February of this year I
bought two pre-27's, one from Cabela's and the other from
Jackson Armory. Both guns had problems, and issues that were
not disclosed. I had both of these on my CC, and returned them
with refunds of the purchase price and they paid for the return
postage because they neglected to disclose rust, corrosion etc.

I like the auctions that JacktheDog does on Gun Auction. He
describes the gun well, discloses all problems and issues, and
takes great clear detailed pictures so you know what you are
bidding on. You get a 3 day inspection, and you can always get
a hold of him. I purchased a nice nickel pre 27 3 1/2 " bbl. from
him last August. He sells quality guns, and the prices he gets
is quite high. He also sold 3 revolvers for me back in January
of this year.

The bottom line is you have to know what questions to ask and
what problems to look for. If your little inner voice says things
are not kosher, listen to it and move on. There will be other
guns for sale in the future.:)

I think I've bought 4 guns at gun shows in the last 30 years :-) .Buying off the net is the same as buying from an old time used car dealer,be wary.

Don't buy from internet auctions, I don't want or need the competition bidding on the guns I want.

I have purchased thousands of guns online, well maybe hundreds, OK probably 20 but that aside, the Sellers feedback is the number one key to successful online shopping. Be very wary of sellers with a) 0 or 1 feedback b) sellers offering no return policy or the old "gun is sold as is" c) sellers only posting 1 or 2 photos and d) sellers that don't respond to emails or phone calls for additional information.

The REAL good sellers on GB, GunAuction formerly AA or GunsAmerica will provide a gazillion photos and have a gazillion positive feedbacks.

These folks know how scary it is to send a stranger $1,000 across the country and do everything in their power to make you feel at ease. Anything short of that be very careful.

...Internet pictures NEVER disclose the true condition as one would have in person.

I can't tell you how many times I've read the feedback forum on this web site and found the following...

"Gun better than described. Nicer than the pictures."

Good group we have here! :)

Where are you shopping online? Some list somewhere or a recognized selling site like Gunbroker? I would be wary of some unregulated selling site. But a place like GB or AuctionArms is pretty safe.

I've only bought two guns online, one here and another from a local dealer I could pick up the gun from. Both went without any problems but it's not something I like to do. I may miss out on a lot but do like looking at a gun in person and am limited to what my local dealers may have on hand.
I'd feel pretty safe with someone here with a history and would check out someone well on another site. It all comes down to trust when you send money with hopes they'll send the gun in the condition you expect.
We do hear the horror stories here but expect most internet sales go off without a hitch.
I've a couple guns I'd like to add to my collection I've never seen locally and will keep looking in classifieds here for them.
