First off I am a big fan of Smith & Wesson, Ruger and Colt firearms. My EDC is Ruger SR1911 CMD (.40 Shield, house gun), I carry the Ruger in condition One, when returning home, the Shield takes over. So my question, is there any harm to the firearm if left in condition One? Or should I clear the gun until the next day? I was thinking along the line of spring tension. Thank you.

I read an article awhile back about a 1911 that had been sitting in condition one for 70 years.

I have no idea how they knew it had been stored for 70 yrs. that way.. But, they said the springs were still fine.? ?

I leave my 1911s with the hammer cocked all the time. They are unloaded when in the safe, but still cocked. I have yet to have one fail to work when the trigger was pressed.
