Just did a deal for a .45 Performance Center, ported M2 Shield for $350. I thought it was at least a fair deal, if not a good one.

Then I went looking through Gunbroken at completed transactions and saw a lot for $100 more, and a lot more. But, strangly I think, not a lot of completed sales, just a lot of relisting. And "regular" .45 Shields were listed at $350 and more++. But not sellout activity on the listings.

So, what's the story? A lot of inventory and not a lot of interest? Everyone who wants one already has one? Something else?

This will be my second .45 Shield. My first one was unmarked in terms of M1 or M2, but I understood all .45 Shield were M2.

I liked the gun just fine but sold it off to get a CS45. The CS45 is one of my regular carry guns; but now I wanted to complete the set with one in .380, one in 9mm and then this one in .45 as I see some advantage at having the same platform for all three carry guns. (I'd do a .40 but that doesn't seem to make sense if I have a 9 & .45.)

I figured what with the porting, enhanced sights, and cleaning kit, $350 wasn't a bad deal.

Am I mistaken?

You are not mistaken. I'm not sure why all the non-sale listings, but I can tell you they are a great firearm. I just picked up one with a red dot for a similar price to yours. The early OR models came with a no-name rds, the newer ones now come with a rds built by Crimson Trace. They are soft shooters just like the original Shield .45's, and accurate as well. I actually like the balance with the longer barrel and slide better than the original. For $350, you got a good deal.

I shot mine today to get the rds zeroed. The shots low and left were the starting point, the big hole represents the other 15 or 20 rounds.

I might add that holsters are not widely available. Urban Carry's Lock Leather and Upper Hand holsters have them depending if you want leather or Kydex.

I'd say that's a good deal. I just bought a used Shield 45 from Cabela's gun library and it's being shipped to my local Cabela's. I paid $430 but there's no shipping charge and no FFL fee. It's a Performance Center model. The condition is described as "fantastic with no or little use".
I've never had a ported pistol before and am wondering how it will treat my ammo. I've heard of some general precautions with ported pistols as some have said to be on the lookout for possible bullet shaving. I contacted Xtreme Bullets and they said usually it is not a problem.

You got a good deal at $350.
The Shield 45 is a great to have around. The asking prices on the big board are pretty hefty after tax, shipping and fees. It doesn't surprise me that there are numerous relistings.
