We must have been watching two different series. 
This was the first basketball I have watched since Magic Johnson retired (the first time) in 1991. This was undoubtedly the most poorly played basketball (by both teams) I have ever seen.

Maybe not the best "technical" basketball, but the whole picture tells a diferent story. LA vs Boston, one of the most fiercest rivalry in all of sports. Kobe going for his 5th ring. Phil Jackson hinting at retirement, Dr Buss(a real gentleman) the Lakers owner getting another championship, back-to-back wins for the Lakers, etc etc.
The see-saw back and forth, LA up 2 to 1, then Boston 3-2. The Lakers looking ragged going home and winning the last 2 when everyone thought it was Boston's destiny to win this.
