No longer NEW to me! It's mine!

So, not a whole lot of response, but I did my own research and decided to purchase. I took it apart prior to purchase to examine and WOW is this pistol tight. Feels great in the hand and will become my new carry piece once I validate it's reliability and POI. Hopefully, I will get it to the range tomorrow. Hopefully it will perform as good as it looks and feels.........More to come.....

Looking forward to the range report. Thanks for the info and pics. Best of luck.

Range Report

OK, I had a pretty good range day today. The targets are the result from my S&W PC1911. Fired 200 rounds; 100 rounds of new Lake City 230 grain ball and 100 rounds of Georgia Arms 230 230 grain ball reloads. Distance was at 30 feet, 2 hand and 1 hand hold. NO malfunctions of any type, brass thrown clear but experienced the grip screws coming loose. No problem however, a quick twist of an allen key fixed the problem.
I have a similiar .45 in all steel by Sig and the recoil on this S&W is noticeably more aggressive. Not night and day but maybe 20% greater recoil because of the lighter frame?? Never the less, not a show stopper. This pistol was a bit expensive, but a good purchase! No regrets!

GREAT GUN

This is a great carry gun. I made a small thread about it on this forum a few months ago. I have 1000 rounds through mine and could not be more pleased with it, not a single misfeed, plenty tight and very accurate, always goes just where it's pointing as I let off. I normally shoot 200 gr plated SWC's over 3.8 grains of Bullseye and 185 Sierra hollow points over Power Pistol for combat loads. I made a couple of boxes of lead 200 SWC's badly at lengths of about 1.1 to 1.3 owing to some gunk in my seating die. They were light loads, so I didn't worry so much about pressures, but some were kind of long and the SWC is a bullet that tends to be difficult for a lot of guns. No problem for this gun. I've owned a lot of 1911's over the years, mostly Colt, but only kept three fancy bull's eye guns and now this one for carry. Real easy to leave on your belt all day concealed in a pancake holster or an IWB holster in summer. Only drawback is it's a bit of a hassle to reassemble with that tight-fitting full length guide rod. There's an area on each side of the rear guide-rails (on the frame) where the coating has worn off, nothing else. Looks very good.

Congratulation on the new purchase.
Interesting timing as I was just looking through the S&W forum after ordering a SW1911 PC (but the longer slide) just hours ago. I posted a question but was just looking to see if there was anything I might have missed before making my selection. Looks like it was a good choice - for both of us (the two guns are very similar).
I was wondering if you have any information regarding ammo preferences. Either from your experiences, from others, or perhaps from spec from S&W or ammo vendors. Since this is my first .45 (I've previously standardized on 9mm - though a .22WMR and a few .22LR have crept it) I will need to buy a few hundred rounds before I purchase reloading components for it.
Thanks,
B
