I went to pickup my latest online purchase.
A S&W model 629-6
44 mag. 4" bbl. While there my dealer friend
showed me a S&W model 28-2 .357 mag 4"
Highway Patrolman. Then he proceeded to show me a Colt Trooper MKIII Nickel plated .357 mag 4"bbl. Both immaculate.
Needless to say all three rode home with me in the car. Actually the Colt has the smoothest action with a beautiful trigger pull.

I'm rather partial to a 1929 Colt New Service in 38 40. Consistent 1" or less groups.

Being a 45 colt guy i see the new anaconda in 45 are showing up. Wonder how they shoot.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say they will likely shoot fine - I have an old one - it shoots well but I bet the trigger isn't as good as the new ones!

Well, I have several brands in the safe and they all seem to get along alright but my favorite to go to the range is a S&W 19-3 with a six inch Python barrel. A few custom gunsmiths still do this conversion if you can find an older Python barrel and have more money than you need.

My Kimber K6XS is a handy, light, smooth shooting little EDC, and I like having a full six rounds.

I'm quite pleased with my Kimber K6xs too. I really like the DAO trigger.

Sold off the Colt revolvers that I had purchased over time. I still have half a dozen semi autos. 1911s and PocketLites.

S&W by their own admission went through a series of CEO's and ownership in the 20th century. They also had labor issues and its shows in their workmanship from time to time. I ordered a Model 27 with 5" bbl in 1967. Right out of the box, the barrel was several degrees out of alignment with the frame. It was immediately obvious. Back to Jones Police Supply for another one.

I do like Colts from the 30's through 50's. I have a Police Positive Special in 32 NP I found recently in a gun store. Made in 1949. Honestly looks like it has never been fired.

If we're gonna consort with the enemy, I have quite a fondness for the old Ruger "Six" Series DA Revolvers as well.
I believe the worst mistake Ruger ever made was to discontinue these fine revolvers.

My money goes to second worst. Ruger's all time worst decision in my book was the day Bill Ruger publicly got into bed with the antis on magazine capacity. That was the actual definition of consorting with the enemy and a lot of us neither forgave nor forgot. It took the LCR to lure me back after that.

I have two, a new 4" stainless Python and a nickeled Gen 3 SAA in .44 Spl. My wife has a mint 1970s-era Detective Special so it's a family thing.

I stopped giving my children firearms because they just sell them. They're not interested in vintage classics.

I went and checked my spreadsheets to determine how many manufacturers I had. Turns out 15 is the present tally, the vast majority are S&W.

I enjoy firearms but my heart belongs to the ones I carried on duty and for the most part it was S&W.

Well I didn't count my long guns, 23 if you please.
