Hello guys;
this is the first time i post something here.
I'm ready to buy tomorrow an M&P pro in .40.
My question is if i can get a conversion barrel to shoot 9mm on it.A .40 to 9 conversion,wich one is the best and how can i obtain one? :confused:
Any feedback will be much appreciated.
Thanks ,Rocko

Personally, first I would first look into a factory S&W 9mm barrel. I would imagine that the 9mm pro barrel would fit (make sure you get the same size as the 40 pro barrel because there are several sized 9mm pro barrels), but maybe others here can help with that info to make sure it would drop in. Plus, you are most likely going to need the 9mm mags as well.

Secondly, if the factory S&W barrel won't work, then check into Storm Lake. I've heard they have drop in barrels, but are expensive.

I have no personal experience in doing this, it is just the info I have read on this site from other posters, but I hope this starts you off on the right foot.

I believe you will require the 9mm conversion barrel not a normal 9mm barrel. I have no expereince with converting an M&P 40 to 9mm but i did require a Barsto 9mm Conversion barrel for my SIG229 in 40 S&W. It has to do with the difference in diameters of the two cartridges. As an aside I was able to use the SIG 40 S&W magazines with my 9mm conversion.

Thank you for the correction. I wasn't sure as I have never looked into a conversion for my .40c to 9mm. :o

Conv bbl

I have a 40FS with a Storm Lake 40/9 conv bbl. Works great . Shoots
better than my orig 40. They are not that much money. You can find them on several forums used. For the Pro 5 " I think you may have to buy a new one. Good luck

The Storm Lake conversion barrel is more expensive. :( But worth every penny. :D I have a 357 Sig barrel for my M&P Pro 40 with a 5 inch barrel. They were the only ones I found that had the necessary barrel. There may have been others, I found some that I wasn't sure about. But once I found Storm Lake, that stopped the search. I have a Storm Lake barrel for my Glock 35 (40 S&W) so I can shoot lead. Still do, but use the M&P. :D

Thanks Guys;
I read on another thread here that the factory one will work with the addition of 9mm mags,i will try it and will get back to you with feedback.I also read about the Storm Lake and i think is a great option as well being a "match barrel".I'm a newbie with S&W's ,this Pro .40 is my first one.
I also talked to the owner of the place i bought it and he offered me to check how much it will be to get a slide and a barrel so i can have a set up dedicated if i want to shoot 9mm(let's see how cost effective they are).I got from him the Apex trigger kit for $86.00 and he installed it for free in my gun,boy what a trigger!!!!.
Again ,tahnks guys for helping me in this new quest,jejejeje

Do any of you guys know where to exactly get a Factory 9mm barrel?
Also do you know the cost? the one's in Brownells are for the standard size not for the Pro wich is 5 inches.Can anyone here provide information as to where to buy one?
Thanks in advance

That was my problem when I looked for conversion barrels. :confused: Everything was for 4 and 4.25 inch barrels and I have a 5 inch Pro 40. Storm Lake has the barell you want. You can order from their options. Expensive as in $173 plus shipping and maybe tax. :( They have an option M&P 40S&W/357 Sig to 9mm conversion with 5.01 inch length. That was the length of the 357 Sig barrel for my Pro 40. Well, gotta go load some 357 Sig. ;)

Do a goggle search for Storm Lake.
