Conversion grip conversion

I’m sorry if this question has been asked before, but my Google-Fu is not getting me an answer.

I have a we if N frame round to square conversion grips. I’d like to use them on a square butt, so would it be as simple as cutting this little triangular piece out?

The front of the grip frame is different also. I think this would be a fail.

Maybe make a cheap plaster mold?
It's a long around the barn, but you don't fubar a good grip.

After you have a plaster version of the grip, you can play, er research, with the cut outs.

Looks to me like the pin will be in the wrong place. Might have to drill a new hole for it.

Just try a SQ butt grip on the RD butt first and see how it fits.

Different length strain screw is a dead give away. Not an easy drop in.

Mine is a 25-9 with Eagle conversion Heritage grips. I’m going to try the square butt grips on a round butt test as suggested above and see if that gives any insight.

I’m surprised no one’s chimed in with actual experience with this, that’s possibly a clue.

I think it would work. I have taken square butt grips and put them on a round butt revolver. To fill in the gap at the bottom, I simply cut a small triangular piece of wood and shaped it to fit.

Well…. I did it with a set of Altamont “Cokes” and it worked fine so it can be done. The Eagle Heritage are not cheap and I would be a little more nervous with them. I believe I would try to sell them and buy another proper set for your square butt gun.

You might try laying the pistols, without the grips on a piece of paper and trace around the grip frame. then cut on the lines and compare them, against each other and and the frames. Maybe that will give you a better idea.

They're not original but they are too expensive!
At this point they're almost worthless to me as I've got no takers for them on the ad, and I just use combats on round butts these days. So, if I can make a single cut and they work, now I've got some nice grips for the square butts I own.
