Smith & Wesson needs to beat the opposition by developing a .22 LR conversion kit for their M&P Line. perferably in a Competition Range kit. Some Countries limit the number of pistols you can own and this is where the Range kits assist shooters, like the Sako Tri Ace kits. I would like to see the S&W M&P Pro kit, with an extra Pro C.O.R.E. slide and a Pro C.O.R.E. slide in .22LR calibre based on the 9mm or 40 S&W calibre frame. Of course the full range kit would be the triple calibre kit with 40 S&W, 9mm & .22LR, which would cover most pistol disciplines, shot at most Ranges. How about it Smith?

Don't hold your breath. S&W builds M&P's in 22lr for a reason. Don't get me wrong, I'd buy a conversion kit in a heartbeat. I've had one for my 1911 many years. It's a blast to shoot, an excellent training aid. All I'm saying is S&W isn't going to risk M&P 22 sales by offering a conversion unit. If they did, likely as not, cost would be prohibitive. MHO you understand.

I agree with this. They really need a "real" conversion for the M&P line that could be used as a low cost trainer for the duty pistol. The S&W Model 18 frequently served in that role when agencies issued the Models 10, 13, 15 and 19 and their stainless counterparts. The M&P 22 is not the same size and is not the exact same feel and function. It is better than nothing, but I agree with the need for a real conversion. SIG has this now, after learning that its "Mosquito" is neither reliable nor well-liked in the role of realistic trainer.
