Conversion units

After using a couple of Colt conversion units for many years with one on a dedicated frame, I decided (for my purpose anyway) these are more of a novelty than something useful. As a long time pistol shooter told me years ago regarding conversion units, "if you want a .22 pistol, get a .22 pistol". It took me a while, but I found out he was right. My conversion units are long gone and not missed.

I’ve got both a S&W 41 (with both the 7” and 5” barrels) and a Beretta 87 Target. Both are dedicated target 22s. I also have a Nelson Conversion on a S&W 9mm 1911 and a CZ Shadow 2 Kadet 2 conversion.
Both the conversions shoot as well as the 41, and possibly better. They may shoot better (for me) because the host frames both fit and feel better to me than either of the dedicated target guns.

The Colt .22LR Conversion Unit performed pretty well.

But, it could not approach the performance of the Marvel Unit I:

The Marvel Conversion Unit is really something. And, it certainly ain’t cheap. But, it’s guaranteed to shoot five shots into 1” at 50 yards, which I was actually able to do, at 0.913” CTC:

(It can be a real test of grip consistency and trigger technique.)

I suspect its provided 0.826” test group was shot with the aid of some kinda machine rest setup:

I had a Colt .22 conversion that I used on an Essex frame. It was fairly reliable, but not 100%. I wound up selling it when I needed some money.

My dad gave me a 1939 Service Ace, so I'm GTG.
