Convert to Round Butt?

Is a square butted model 10 made in the sixties, skinny barrel, 85% blue, 4”, mechanically excellent, too valuable as is to have converted to a round butt?
I can get one from an LGS FOR ABOUT $500.

The Model 10 is one of the most widely produced revolvers of all time. They're not particularly rare by any stretch of the imagination. That said, a nice sixties-era model isn't something that comes up every day. Why do you want to change the grip frame? It'll probably work out cheaper in the long run to just to find a newer, round-butt Model 10.

I have a 3" round butt Model 1o-5. It is ne of my favorite firearms. My local gun shop does this work for $135. I'm not sure a new Model 10 can be had for $635. In fact I have a pencil barrel model 64, I am considering doing the same thing with. Plus no Internal lock.

I would suggest looking for what you want instead of converting this one. I also would think you could locate one cheaper than $500 with a round butt from the factory....

OP, I think you have a great idea. Can you talk the shop down below $500?
Shorter barrels are hard to come by, but there are places hidden away that might still have one or two. If you need the info, just say so and I'll give you a source that's been good to me in the past.

I've often thought about round-butting my early 80's Model 15. Why? It's definitely a shooter and not a safe queen. I really don't like the feel of the S&W square butt K Frame grips in my hand. To me, it feels like I'm holding a funnel upside down.
My very favorite old-time gun writer, Maj. George C. Nonte, from Peoria, Illinois wrote up extensive directions on how to do it.
I just haven't got around to doing it. Maybe when I retire soon I will.
I would never sell that gun so why not configure it to my liking?
It would make it easier to conceal and carry.
