That mirrors my experience. The fact that energies of 147 grain 9mm defensive rounds out of the Shield exceed those of the 158 grain 38 Special +P ammo I carry in my 442 or 638 revolvers, AND that I can stand to put hundreds of rounds through the Shield in a session but can only tolerate a dozen or so revolver shots from my 38 carry revolvers before having to drop back to "cowboy" loads for the sake of my hand and wrist, made it a pretty easy decision. The additional benefit of starting with 8 or 9 in the gun and reloading 8 more in a heartbeat, compared to 5 in the gun that have to be ejected and then replaced with 5 from a speed strip, was icing on the cake. And ONE of these days I'm going to take the Shield to an IDPA match and try it in the class that has been created for these little guns, something I can't do with a snubby revolver.
I continue to be amazed at how comfortable the Shield is to shoot despite its diminutive size. (I have the same experience with the Shield 45, even though I've only rented one on a couple of occasions - I gave up anything larger than 38 Special/9mm years ago in deference to my ageing joints, but the Shield 45 is such a pleasure to shoot that I am continually fighting the urge to "just go get one.") And the short range accuracy is always a delight.
