Converting to DAO

Does anyone know what it costs to convert a handgun to DAO?

I assume the new hammer and such wouldn't be cheap.

I just can't seem to find a DAO Model 10 or 64 snub

It's a fairly simple modification that any competent gunsmith should be able to do. Less than $50 I would guess.

Removing the hammer spur and making the gun double action only is two different things alltogether. The other end of the hammer has to be modified to make the gun DAO.

I have a spurless hammer from a Model 64 that I would trade for a semi-target hammer for either a Model 64 or Model 10. (Case Colored prefered).

Grinding off the hammer spur will essentially make your standard revolver a DAO. Yes technically you have a hammer that could be cocked if you can get your thumb in front of it as you are pulling the hammer, but that's not likely to happen accidently, and if your preference is for DAO, why would you try to cock it up ?
And yes, there will be a bit of extra notchiness in the trigger pull, from the cock-sear, but in a continuous trigger pull, you'll pass that almost unnoticed.
I used a dremel tool, a palm sander, and a belt sander to cut off the spur, sand down, and hone to a nice finish the back of a 2" M64. It worked out just fine.

$40-$75 seems to be the price range I've seen for a DAO/bobbed hammer conversion.
