I currently own a stock Shield that's currently with SW for trigger work and sight alignment. Currently in its place is a Taurus PT111 G2 (12+1), don't judge me, it's a fantastic piece attached to a second tier brand name...500+ rounds through it, not a single hiccup.

After trying out the crimson trace green laserguard on my MP Full Size, I'm thinking about purchasing another Shield with CT laser as a package since SW will extend their Lifetime warranty to the CT laser as well. I've discovered that my previous bad experience with the Shield was mainly due to the bad trigger.

Only thing keeping me from ordering the Shield with CT now is the capacity of 7/8 + 1. I understand that 7-8 rounds is perfectly acceptable in the overwhelming majority of SD situation but a 12+ rounders just feels more comforting. I also don't carry extra mags on me (extra mag is in the car) because it's 1 more thing I have to carry.

Personally (at my current skill level), if SHTF, 7/8 rounds are only good for stopping at most 2 attackers...4 rounds each. For what it's worth, at the range in a safe environment I can draw and put rounds on small targets at 6-7 yards without looking at front sights (point and shoot).

I can get the New Shield with CT for a fantastic price but need to decide quickly, it's the last one. My other consideration is the XD Mod 2 (13 + 1) but crimson trace is still in development for the laserguard. As it stands, SW is the only company that has partnered with CT to equip their entire M&P line of pistol with CT as a package.

PS: don't disregard CT lasers as a gimmick, try it first and you'll understand why I and many others love them.

Get the Shield. Carry an extra mag. Single stack mags are comfortable to carry, and easy to conceal and/ or camouflage.

Are you opposed to the M&P9c? Pretty similar gun with the capacity you're looking for.

Also, don't forget- when it gets ugly, you'll revert to baseline training. If you think it takes 4 rds each, and that's how you train and think, that's what you'll shoot. What if you needed 5 on BG #1? Or just one?

Just keep & enjoy the Taurus PT111 gen 2, I own two and they are great guns. I purchased one for my sons birthday also.
Because you already have a shield, you can add a laser to that shield & save money. Also check into Taurus Slim (great single stack 9mm)

A Shield 9mm, 8 round mag can be converted to a 9 round mag with a MagGuts spring kit. That will give you 9 +1 ammo capacity.

I have the MagGuts kit installed on a 7 round mag. Gives me 8 + 1, and it works flawlessly.

OP, though you already own a Shield, sounds like your biggest concern is the capacity regardless of sights. If that is the case then i too would suggest the compact. I had one that was trouble free but was just "ok" for my feel in the hand (compared to my Full Size & a Shield) and ended up replacing it with a Shield PC.
But many out there like and carry the compact and that may be something to consider for yourself.
At minimum, you'll have to decide which truly is more important to you -- warranty on a laser, capacity, etc... and go from there

The Shield with green Laserguard is an awesome carry piece and carries plenty of ammo unless you're a first-responder. My favorite carry gun is a XDS .45 holding just 6.

All of that being said, I think the M&P 9C with LaserMax Micro II green laser is an interesting alternative for more ammo capacity. Finding a holster will be difficult.

That's my Shield 9 setup too. And I carry it to every church service in a Bible case, just in case.

Fantastic price? Where's the risk? Should be an easier trigger to pull than your first Shield : )

Sounds like you should get a Performance Center Shield with the Tritium Night Sights and call it a day...

Get the MagGuts spring kit to increase capacity by one round... add the laser and yeah, you are set.

I bought a Shield in 9mm and retired my Glock 27 to the safe. Carried the Glock for 15 years...love the Shield. Much more comfortable to carry and shoot, great ergonomics. Did install Trjicon HD night sights.

Replaced my lcp with a shield pc and noticed quite a difference in carry comfort (of course). I really love the shield - how it looks, shoots, feels in my hand. The lcp ct just sucks to shoot, but is great to run with or pocket carry in gym shorts. But then as I gather my second shield mag to have a 15 rd capacity, I cant help but look over at the wifes g26. With the 12rd mag, it takes up less then the shield + mag combo and it shoots...well its a glock. The ported shield is pretty close, but not quite there. She has gone to a sig p238, which is a great little gun to shoot albeit bigger and 14 vs 8 oz. I think once you go beyond the p238 size, you are dealing with bulk, and the difference between shield and g26 is not much. Plus I got a ton of various double stack mags for my g19 that work for the 26. IMHO, the difference between a single and double stack compact 9 is not near as much as the 380 to 9 jump in size. Its about the same jump as an lcp to a p238.
