Nothing better than a cooking thread!
It's cold and snowing so—
Today I'm fixing a pot of beef stew: NOTE - measurements and other specifications are precise, deviate at your own risk:
Throw a 1/2 cup of flour into a plastic shopping bag along with a precisely measured palm of ground black pepper and about an equal amount of salt.
Throw enough stew meat into the bag and throughly coat the meat with the flour, salt and pepper. Heat some oil in a cast iron pot and then brown the meat. Add a measure of beef broth and simmer.
Heat the oven to about 350, then put the pot into the oven for a while (an hour or so).
Peal some potatoes, carrots and an onion. Cut up the veggies, add them to the pot with a bit more broth and bake for a while more.
Somewhere along the line add a bit, or a good bit, of Lea and Petrine Worcester sauce.
Remove pot from the oven, stir and thicken with remaining flour, salt and pepper in more broth as necessary.
That's my project for today. What are you cooking.
