Coonan .357mag

A friend have a Coonan pistol (first generation) for sale,
any one here have one and what do you think of it?
Any good or should i look for a Desert Eagle instead?
Thankful for any information as they are not plentyfull here in Sweden.

The theory of those guns is nice, but they are overpriced.

NOTE************** COONAN said they won't even work on the first gen guns anymore,.......I guess when the maker doesn't want to see it back, that should tell you something. Do some google searching on that, but I would pass on that gun.

As a contrary opinion, I had a first gen Coonan that was flawlessly reliable and extremely accurate. I regret selling it to this day. As long as jacketed magnum ammunition is used, you won't find many reports of them not working, old or new.

I have one and it's not all that special. These never did sell very well and Coonan went out of business long ago. Recently it seems they may have been resurrected. I bought one several years ago for $800. and overpaid just so I could have one.

You should buy your friends gun. I carried a .357 revolver for 20 years before starting Coonan Inc.. Nothing compares to hunting with a combat .357mag in your hands!

My freind has two early ones but only shoots one. It works great with no jams when we shot it. It's a pretty normal size gun compared to the Desert Eagle which I can't stand. the Coonan's are very nice guns that kind of remind me of the early .38 Colt autos in shape.

My understanding is that you need to run full house .357 through them, they won't take the .38 special.

KJM, the current maker of "Coonan .357 Magnum Pistols" is not the same people or company as the original company. I know not anything of the new brand but I have both the (originals) Model B and Cadet.

Both my Coonans are a joy to shoot; never a misfire from either gun. Still breaking them in, with about 100 rounds through each gun but I don't think I will have any issues.

From a price standpoint - I paid $2,000 for both guns - they were new, in the box, unfired by the original owner, a self professed collector, not shooter.
