i had to google it, i had never heard of them. seems like a neat gun.
.357 Magnum in a semi-auto...it just ain't right.

Right now there is a 6 month wait for one. They DO work with .357 but not so much so with a .38.

Both the platform and the round are great so - heck yeah!
Grip is a bit long due to the round length, but if you can wrap your hand around it, it's all good.

My friend has a pair of the original regular size Coonans. They have never jammed once when we shot one of them (he only shoots one of them). Forgot accuracy as we just plinked with it. The grip is a little wide in profile compared to a 1911 but no big deal. They are good looking reliable serious guns. And now pretty pricey.

I have four of them, and they are great. I shoot stuff in them that will lock up most revolvers.
The "A"model is a link system like a 1911, the 'B" has a Browning style lockup and is my primary shooter. As to the 38spec ammo use, it has to have a spring change to be 100%. I load 38 spec brass to a longer OAL and hotter than +p and run it where brass retrieval is a factor.
they have pros and cons like most, finding leather is one stumbling point, glock 21 stuff work fair in a pinch, the muzzle and dust cover width preclude the use of 1911 stuff. Pick an choose and a little improv and the problem isnt all that bad.
I built up a 10mm Mag conversion, equivalent to a rimless 41mag for the most part. think 180 bullet at 1400fps and the 200's not much less...

I had the pleasure of putting a magazine's worth of ammunition downrange through one. Sheer fun!

Thanks for the great info guys - I have been on U-Tube looking at some reviews and shooting - not too many negatives that I can find - they sure look like fun.
Seems like the recoil is more contained than in a revolver plus apparently there is less pressure loss.

Less pressure loss for sure. As for recoil, semis do a good job at spreading the recoil force over time so it is less jarring to the shooter. Also I suspect the bore axis is lower in the Coonan than say a 686, so that helps a bunch with perceived recoil.

Isn't the .357 Sig supposed to accomplish about the same ballistics for a lot less money? Just asking, not arguing.
From a practical point of view, wouldn't that be a lot cheaper route to travel, unless the coolness factor overwhelms your common sense? If the latter is the case, why not just go whole hog and buy a Bren 10?

You want to buy and then reload that bottleneck thing?
.357 is dirt cheap and readily available, not to mention the lubing and trimming of the Sig.
On top of that, the Sig is weak compared to .357, you can load heavy bullets in the .357.
Up to a year lead time on new ones. I have three being built right now, I'm a dealer and had to pay up front. One of my customers wanted one so I ordered three in October 2012, got the call mid-July 2013 with a 5-week build time. Should be here soon.
Now I'm a fan of the .357 MAG,,, but have been shooting a lot of .45ACP lately in 1911 pistols. I'll look these over good and might post some pictures. Don't know if I'll keep one for myself, I've got enough "stuff" already.
