Copy machines

That is just both amazing and horrifying. Reallly makes you think about what you will take and what you won't take to the copy store or Office Depot or Staples or whatever. Thia is definately something I did not knopw.

Great post. I did not know this.

Now, I don't whether to thank you or curse you! I am now aware when I copy things. But now I also do not know how many of the companies I deal with have allowed my information to sold along with used copiers to potential thieves. I needed something else to be concerned about.

As non-technologically savvy as I am, I knew that.

I just want to know where I can get one of those big used copiers for $300!!!

Usually they want $1000.00+ for stuff like that- it'd be easy for the Mrs. to do church bulletins at home. :D

This newscast was somewhat misleading. At least one copy machine maker (Xerox) has DOD approved image overwrite protection that is available by simply setting a parameter. This effectively solves the issue of retained images of documents on the copier's disk drive. There is also a disk overwrite feature to cleanup the existing documents after the immediate overwrite parameter has been turned on. Since none of this is by default the newscast did a service by shining a light on the problem.
