The buzz on the IAA website is that Cor-Bon is probably out of business. They haven't announced what they are going to do about refunding or fulfilling all of the significant number of paid-for back orders for ammunition they have accumulated. No one at IAA seems to know exactly what went wrong, but their business problems have been well known for the past six months or so. So if you have any fresh boxes of Cor-Bon ammo, you may now own a collector's item.

Another forum posted they lost their contract for all their bullets. Who knows for sure?

Darn. They make/made some terrific light bullet/high velocity magnum factory loads.

Seems like Corbon is already history.
This information is as of December 27, 2017 from one of the foremost cartridge dealers and collectors:

"Well, scratch that earlier post where Pete Pi Jr. had talked about how Corbon was retooling and gearing up to expand or whatever. In a live video stream, which is happening right now in a private Facebook Corbon user group, Pete Jr. has just proclaimed that the Pi family will no longer have anything to do with Corbon (!?), and that a new ammunition company called Defiant Munitions will be started soon by Pete Jr, initially on a small scale offering .223, 9mm, and .300 BLK. He doesn’t make clear exactly what is happening with Corbon, just that he is no longer going to be involved with it. When he says that the Pi family will no longer be involved, I assume he is including his father, the founder of Corbon - Peter Pi Sr., and that the company is either being sold, or closed… not sure. I have been very cynical and skeptical of everything going on with Corbon lately in terms of the vague excuses offered by them for their lack of product across the spectrum over the past year, and also why the promotion and marketing have been REALLY weak & strange over the past 2 years, and this turns out to be along the lines of what I figured was happening. As awesome as Corbon was, they just seem to have drowned in an industry that was rapidly expanding and surpassing them on the solid copper hollow point market, which defeated their main thing - the DPX line of ammo. That being said, Corbon does have a loyal, albeit out of touch with advancements in the industry, cult following.

The live stream video was kind of strange with a very informal Pete Jr. looking like he was ready for a frat party, and not a brand-launching announcement. He took time to use a vaping device (around 100 times) while talking, and showed off his multiple hand tattoos.

At one point during the live stream video, Pete Jr was running down through the questions that people were messaging to him live via the comments, and he would read them and answer them. One of the questions was: “Are all of the back-orders and orders placed over the past year going to ship out, or are refunds going to be sent?” (orders made while it was his and his father’s business, of which there are apparently a great many back-orders for DPX ammo).

His answer was a blunt & unresolved: “I don’t really know what’s going on with that”… It was a face-palm moment for me.

Not to disparage the Pi’s personally, but it just seemed like the whole thing over the past 2 years with Corbon, and culminating in this strange video feed was just a master-class in “what to avoid when marketing / branding / selling ammunition”, and it could have all been so easily avoided with just a few messages posted on their website and Facebook page to inform people much earlier on. I think sometimes I just take it all for granted because I am so aware of the industry as a whole, and most all of the small to mid size manufacturers seem not to be based on some of the moves they make."

Here's the latest update I could find on: CorBon! Written by John Farnam of: DTI | 3 Nov 2017
CorBon | Defense Training International, Inc.

That's strange. I was under the impression that corbon had been making their own copper bullets for the last several years. I think I even emailed them about it and Peter Pi confirmed it. A quick google search turns up several mentions of it including Evan Marshall and Mike Shovel(corbon) talking about it on the stopping power forums.

Please document your findings in your posts! There has been too much fake news of late! If you've read something about the topic, please supply the source or URL address!

Posted as a response on the FB page to their change in cover photo yesterday [typos and weird wording from original]:

"Corbon Ammo That's correct the Pi's are no longer involved with CorBon. CorBon ammo will be much easier to find in the near future. We are working with vendors and have production back up and running. We aqired the Company on December 19th, 2017 and moving forward there will be no quality changes along with better management product will be available."

Who "we" are is not specified.

"Corbon Ammo The quality will not change, we are working with the same vendors they did and called back pack of the experienced staff that made the product for years"

"Corbon Ammo The Sturgis plant was reopened this week and production will start back up January 2nd"

LOL,, yeh gawd awful expensive in small boxes.
Although I got a box of powerball 9mm ammo and ran half a box, and carried the other.
I had a home built 1911 9mm I shot IDPA with,, could never ever ever get it to shoot hollowpoints reliably..
Figured it would be a dang shame to be in a self defense shooting issue coming home from a "Defensive match" and not have an actual defensive gun..
The Powerballs ran without issue. I also ended up running Federal EFMJ in my 40 and 45 for awhile, but that is a different story that would get my *** kicked if certain people knew
