537 fpe. is very respectable, but not quite as hard hitting as a .357 from a 4" gun, FWIW. I wouldn't give the gun a steady diet, but as a self defense load if you only burn up your carry ammo a couple times a year, my swag is that you won't have a problem (endshake I would think) and if you do, it will take a long time to develop.
 
Actually, after further reflection, a call to Smith & Wesson wouldn't be a bad idea. I'm betting that you're dealing with much less pressure than a .44 mag. mountain gun gets subjected to, so my guess is that you'll have no problems.
 
I too have fond memories of a 625, a 200 gr. Flying Ashtray, 1100 FPS, a tree stand and a deer... but my 625 is a .45 ACP! Any modern .45 Colt revolver should be able to duplicate this without breaking a sweat.
