Looking to do action shoots and found a CORE 1.0 4.5'' barrel on auction for pretty cheap. 1.0 5'' for $400 or the 2.0 models. I already own a 1.0 that's 15yo that may have the **** barrel in it and wondering what you guys would do? Put a fitted APEX barrel in the 1.0 I already have, 2.0 5'' for the better trigger/barrel or 1.0 5''? I don't know how I feel about putting a reflex sight on a pistol for games and then carrying a duty pistol because training may revert to the reflex and the duty pistol wont have it.

1. CORE only if you want a reflex sight. The iron sights on the CORE sux
2. I use an old 5" bbl Pro 9mm for IDPA, and I find it perfect for SSP. Some people have changed barrels on theirs, but not all improved, so maybe its the shooter?
3. I personally wouldn't pay 12 cents extra (compared to the Pro) for the 2.0 but some like the rough grips. Now the black 5" Pro 2.0 is also available if you want the latest hot number for IDPA/SSP. I might as well tell you that the M&P is not the hot number for USPSA/Production now because of the weight of the CZ Shadow.

Me, I'd say shoot what you have until you make Sharpshooter ( C in USPSA) and by then you will know what's used in each division, and know what you want to shoot, and how broke you want to go.

I have a tuned 1.0 4.5" which shoots well. If I wanted to really hammer SSP, I would track down a 1.0 5". But I have reverted to ESP with a 1911 and even bought a 2011 for Limited. So when I saw an ad for a 9L, I really had to strangle the impulse. My last use for the 4.5" was with thin base plates to fit CCP.

The swing is to heavy guns in USPSA. We see steel Walthers, tungsten filled plastic SIGs, potbellied CZs, and iron 2011 grips. Also ballast weights and brass plugs for Glocks. Maybe that would work on a MP.
