Well we had St Patty day at the house the other day but it was not quite the same...........

Meat, carrots, cabbage but the little lady went to three stores and could not find any................
little Red Potatoes !!

Used Idaho's but it was just not the same.

I can't wait until I HAVE to go shopping.
People are saying it is very different now.

Later.

They are usually served with Corned beef,:D

without the red potatoes it was almost corned Beef.........

we had "Corn Beef" which was 80% close to the real thing.

I already had the Beef cooking for 90 minutes when I found out no red potatoes. The only reason I kept going was that I had two heads of cabbage and did not feel like changing paths and making a LOT of coleslaw!! :D

On that subject, we have been enjoying the Costco Wagyu style corned beef. It is way better than most corned beef. A new favorite for us now when available.

Best corned beef ever...

Marinate your corn beef for a few hours in apple juice then discard the juice as this cuts some of the saltiness. Use more apple juice {about 3 cups} for your cooking liquid and put the CB into a pressure cooker cut up into equal sized pieces of about half a pound each.

Stay with me on this next one... drizzle 3- 4 tablespoons of molasses over your beef. This will add a subtle sweetness that has to be tasted to be believed. Pressure cook for 50 minutes and voila, you will have the most moist, delicious, flavorful CB you ever tasted. Use you sharpest knife to slice as it will unbelievably tender.

Cook your veggies {carrots, redskin potatoes and cabbage} in a separate pan as they will overcook badly if placed in with the CB.

Been doing it this way for 25 years and it comes out perfect every time and... it does not take 3+ hours. Who the hell can wait that long when you are hungry???

Wife went shopping Tuesday morning. Got a Corned Beef Brisket, bag of red potatoes, Cabbage, Carrots. No eggs or bread and the only milk was 4% whole milk. Did get a 12 pack of TP.

I put the Corned Beef, some potatoes, Carrots, and an Onion in the crock pot and let it cook for several hours. Boiled the Cabbage separately, as it wouldn't fit in the crock pot with other items. We had a very tasty meal at dinner time.

My only experience with canned corned beef had a lot of UFOs in it. Turned me off.
Pretty much the same experience with the 5 lb chubs of ground meat.
