Corn turns brown?????

Being raised on an Iowa farm and also living there as an adult, I am totally spoiled when it comes to sweet corn. My Mother's idea of fresh sweet corn was no more than 1 hour from the field to the table (or canning jar or freezer) More than once I remember her scolding my Dad for bringing in the corn before she was ready for it!
Been gone from the farm for 30+ years but still can get great fresh corn any day from mid July to mid October. Local fellow picks it fresh every morning, rain or shine, his old 70's era pickup full, parks in an area just off the main highway at 11 AM. Much of the time people are waiting for him. Many times he is sold out in 2 hours. He's a local legend!
In another couple of weeks he will have a trailer load of squash & pumpkins also.
I'll be there tomorrow.

Lived in Iowa for a while, My Sister had a small plot of Silver Queen . That corn was like nothing I ever tasted. Eat it right of the stalk, Like sugar!:)

Am dearly missing all those even rows of smaller white kernels. It's been over 30 years, and the growing season up here is way too short for silver queen. If you pick any corn way early when it's small, it's candy corn (lot more sugar). Fond youthful memories of being chased out of fields after picking candy corn for a snack.

Glad this still exists.....

Reminds of the days when the guy used to ply the neighborhoods in the truck with the speaker on top.:)
