How much does it cost to have blued revolvers nickel plated?

Who does the highest quality in nickel plating?

Just wondering. Bill

Oh No. I would be more apt to blue a nickel revolver;)

I think S&W has some refinishing prices on their website.

I am very happy with my blue to nickel m 36 done by Smith and Wesson about 2 years ago. I will be sending my 3" m-13 blue to have them nickel it soon.

I sent off a Pre-War (1943) Colt Official Police this past week for a new nickel finish. The revolver came in nickel.

Fords in Crestview, Florida wanted $300.00 and a 5 month turn-around.

Mahovsky's in PA wanted $150.00 and a 30 day turn-around.

I have heard very good things about both places. I ended up using Mahovsky's.

You do have to get the firearm to them which entails shipping. Not sure how much Fords want for return shipping but Mahovsky's currently charges $18.00.

I can only hope I made the right choice. Others with experience please jump in.

Hope the above is of help; although I know you were referring to a blued revolver being nickel plated vs. a nickel one being re-nickeled. I think with the re-nickel they reverse the charge and remove all the old nickel. Then they change the charge to apply the new nickel finish.

The last time I had one nickled at the factory, it cost me about $18.00. That was for a re-nickel. Change from blue to nickel, or nickle to blue cost a buck or so more. That was about 1972. Inflation has really set in. In either case, the gun has to be stripped of the old finish, polished and refinished. I expect that the stripping and polishing is more critical and time consuming with a change of finish.

Please let us know how it turns out. Don't forget photos, sir.
