I reached out not once but twice to a member wanting to buy a revolver. Sent both PM and e mail each time. No response. How about SOME kind of response. Even a "go pound sand" would be preferable to nothing.

I've been in contact and we be dialoguing. As Chip so eloquently put it in his thread, I had a "life is pretty good" moment down at the camp this past weekend except instead of snow we had the rain storm from hell Friday night. But even that was OK-we sat on the porch drinking whisky and enjoyed mother nature at her best. Watched all the championships Saturday-had a great dinner Saturday night and was home in time to miss the Saints game. Life is good
Bonus: best recipe I've had for succotash
Three bags of frozen corn-three bags frozen limas one and a half sticks butta salt and pepper. Cook on the stove over a low heat long and slow adding water when necessary. You'll know it's done when it has the consistency of brick mortar. Pair that with a nice filet, some little bitty roasted potatoes and a ceasar salad and it don't get no betta!

A few years ago I listed a gun for sale here. Seven minutes later I had a "I'll take it."
Talked over the details, and he said he'd send a Postal Money Order. Waited a few days, then a couple weeks. No money order. We live around 70 miles from each other, and I asked him if he wanted to meet half way. He didn't want to meet.
I knew something was going on, so I called his "good friend" who was an FFL that the buyer claimed I could ship the revolver to with just a copy of my drivers license.
FFL said he'd never heard of the guy, and it was his practice to never accept a gun from anyone except another FFL.
This all went down from a well known member on the forum.

Call me old school, but if a man does not honor his word, he has no honor. I’d be so embarrassed to back out of a deal, never mind not communicating is something happened where you had to back out…

I told him that I would take legal action if I didn’t get a money order refund, or if the gun wasn’t sent to my FFL, his choice, in short order. Totally thought I was out the $$. Gun arrived 3 days later. Good grief!
In a very strange case of irony, turns out, the seller/member lived 2 minutes from my house at the time, literally down the street and around the corner!
Still have the 41, shoots great.!

I've had good transactions, pretty much universally, on this forum, buying and selling.
Only had one guy renege after posting an "I'll take it" in my classified ad. Didn't hear from him for a couple of days. Then I got a message saying, "I changed my mind, as I have a right to do. Just as you have a right to set any price you want, I can change my mind."
I was flabbergasted. Didn't even bother replying. I just thought, "Here's a guy with no clue," and relisted.
Not a guy I was familiar with as a longterm forum poster, though. Sold the item soon thereafter.
Buying or selling, I try to keep the other guy informed. I let him know when I ship, or send payment, and enclose a photo of the USPS receipt, or my check, MO, or whatever else helps to document where we are in the transaction.
When buying, I always confirm receipt "in good order." (If not "in good order," would of course note that as well.) Not a big deal, but I do like it when buyers confirm receipt of items I have sent.
Just the proper way to do business, big or small.

Someone was trying to sell a revolver that I might've been interested. I've seen his name on here so I didn't think much about it. Dude said send his PM in box with a phone no. & he'd text some pics. And he said his in box was full. Okay, maybe he emptied it. So I tried, waited several days, then sent another. No response. No sale. No skin off my teeth.

I like Lima Beans. Usually just put a can of them in a sauce pan, heat them up, and then put a couple of table spoons of butter on them, plus salt and pepper.

There was a poster on Colt Forum for Single Action Armies, who had 2 Single Actions in .44 Special, that he was thinking of selling. I contacted him and said I would buy both revolvers. Never got a response from him even after contacting him several more times.

In more than 19 years on the Forum, I've had more transactions, as both a buyer and a seller, than I can remember...and not a bad one yet. Every single member I've dealt with has been honest and honorable. Buyers have paid on time, sellers have shipped on time, and everything I've bought has been exactly as described.
I think part of that is due to the fact that we are, as a group, a little -- ahem! -- "more mature" than folks on the average social media page. I think it's also because of The Rules, which are so specific and so diligently enforced that only people of a certain serious mindset hang out here. We also have a lot of veterans and public safety professionals here, people who have lived lives of principle and honor, and who bring those character traits to this Forum.
Just another reason why I love it here...

Well, I’ll be negative number 3. Bought a gun and the guy switched the grips, and to me, a less expensive pair. He said the ones pictured were damaged….no they were not.

A few years ago there was a member here who repeatedly listed S&W model 10s for sale at pretty high prices. Frankly some of his pics looked air brushed. I told him would buy one of them but I also simply asked a question about the grips that were obviously not original. He replied with a PM with an unbelievable blast of rage in large capital letters and told me he would not sell me a gun period. I realized that he had some serious mental health issues and just wished him well. He has not posted for a few years and I wonder if dementia has gotten the best of him.

I've made several purchases here over the few years I've been onboard, and interestingly, they've been mostly for Rugers. Bought several which are not rare, but usually not seen in the stores as used. I also have a few S&W's bought here which are major keepers. Good site for good sellers and buyers.
