1st, I'm not dead. Close. I'm not gonna lecture about vax, masks and so on. This is PSA only, experience shared in love of my fellows
7/30-12 noon, persistent dry cough
8/2 positive. Dr Rxd Zpak/prednisone
8/8 102* oxygen dropping into 86%. Try to shower before hospital. Went down in shower. Came to with paramedics wheeling me back naked through the house in my computer chair out to the driveway, deposited onto gurney
Wed 8/11- saw "my people" on the other side
Thurs-rally, been on the mend since. Can't get my O2 up, on 5 liters otherwise I could go home soon.
Bottom line, don't think you can "tough it out" if you are ill. If you live alone you can die. I have been stubborn, pig headed and completely self sufficient my whole life. I have been humbled. Do what you think best for you and yours. I have no judgements whatsoever. When it is all done and it's down to you and your Maker, you'll know. God bless

Keep on the heal. A few younger guys I know in their 40s talk about the rebound and long recovery times. Pace yourself.

Also, 86% sat sounds uncomfortable…

My wife had both her shots back in April, and a week ago she got Covid. I had the Johnson & Johnson shot, and to date I've shown no symptoms. I hope it stays that way, too.

Guy at work also had breakthrough COVID, as did most of his family. The bug broke down the doors on the Pfizer and Johnson vaccines. One had Moderna and showed no symptoms but was never tested, so...

He said the vaccine did exactly as described, taking the edge off the bug to the point he felt he had a really crummy cold, but not much more. He said it did leave them all somewhat fatigued. He is in his mid-40s and in good physical shape.

Best wishes go out to you for a rapid and complete recovery.

I'm curious if you got hit that bad even with the jab, but you don't mention your vaccination status. Looking at your past threads, I'd guess your unvaccinated, since you referred to the virus as Kung Flu in your "COVID Has an Upside" thread.

Friend was in ICU, died and was brought back, still has a way to go. He is diabetic, has big heart issues and is up in age. Not sure if he got shot. Another friends wife came down with covid but recovered pretty quick. Heard a few people that got both shots came down with covid, so unsure. I got first shot a week ago, waiting to see how I feel and hopefully no problems as my Daughter had. She's Med. Surg. Rn and had to get them. Bad reaction around shot site, arm turned red all the way down almost to her wrist, ok now as it was months ago. Will see.

No, I didn't get the shots. Not anti vax, wildly "needle phobic." I'm past that and will get shots.
As far as "visions" from beyond, Everyone was in a palatial salon aboard a fine old steamship. Beautiful teak paneling, plush maroon carpet. I was joyful to see them. The door was locked. I woke up. Joe

Vaccine "Breakthrough" is common with Delta variant, but severe infection symptoms are still blessedly rare. We'll be first in line when booster is approved.

Actually, infection breakthrough is thankfully not "common", but it does occur, and real disease breakthrough very rare. Still, I got my cross-vax booster (a Pfizer after two Moderna) a few days ago at County Health by being a bit economical with the truth. Don't feel very ethical about that, but they're sitting on the stuff, and I have a few caregivers who are stubborn non-vaxers; can't do without the girls though, so I need every edge

I've been holding out on the shot, just waiting to see how it shook out for everyone else really. Now my employer is basically forcing everyone to get vaccinated and report it to them. So it looks like a shot is in my future

I got my vac as soon as I could. Wife won't get it. So far. I'm retired 1 1/2 years and didn't work since 15 to die early from something obviously preventable during my 64th year on this earth. "I wanna Live."
God speed to you, OP.
Yes, arjay, I'm gonna be in line, too. These scientists & doctors are smarter than me.
If the vac kills me, then so be it. I had a helluva good run; should've been dead long ago, but God spared me for a reason.
I would love to meet Jim Morrison, Albert Einstein, Buddy Holly, Rick Nelson, but I can wait.
Peace, Brothers.

get well soon. will keep you in my prayers. I was very resistant to the vaccine. wife also. well she cracked and decided to get vac and practically begged me to do same.
October will be 45 years and i still can't help but give in to her and she is quite aware of it.

we went together to wally pharm and got stuck with moderna, that is all they had available. second scheduled for next month. wife felt poorly for about 36 hours. i had a bit of runny nose and a little cough for a couple days.

we are now among the ranks of the poked but still think either choice is a personal decision and defend the right of those who chose not to and keep them in my prayers. krs
