One of my Wife's best friends has been isolated at home for over 3 weeks. She has had all the symptoms and is in really bad shape. She works in the medical field (no direct patient contact) plus her Husband is in the medical field They have two middle age kids at home as well.

She got tested.
It took almost 2 weeks for the results.
The test "showed" negative?? She is pretty darn sure she has/had "it".
The virus has already had several mutations, so are the tests accurate at detecting all of them?? No one knows for sure. Plus asymptomatic people can be out and about who knows if they are spreading it?.
So for all those that think its a hoax or "just a flu" and know more than the Doctors, be aware.

The new test kits just coming on line, produced in U.S. by American manufactures are reported to be very quick, not more than 15 minutes and accurate. The ones the Chicoms have been selling all over the world for several months have been show to be up to 75% defective.

I have seen some figures indicative of a significant # of false negatives - 30%+. The smart course if one has enough symptoms is to assume that they have it. Remember that one should do that with any of the various respiratory illnesses anyway - minimize contact with others, wash the heck out of your hands (just 'til they are dry, raw and painful, of course ), etc.

The other scary part is that one can be asymptomatic or have really minor symptoms and still be a real menace to others.
