The Crayon method works but only for a while as it is a wax but nail polish that I use lasts as long as you want and is just as fast, the only problem is going to the cosmetic section for women and picking out your best color.

It is more fun to explain that you are picking out the best color for your gun than going to buy crayons from Crayola in the child department.

However you can do what you please with your gun my method is kinda permanent while a wax job while effective is short lived!

While I believe I can figure this out, what process do you use to apply nail polish. I assume you clean the area with alcohol first but I would only be guessing as to how you apply to the very narrow etch lines on the logos? My only guess is apply as best you can and then wipe off the plain surface. But with what? I would think acetone would be a problem.

As for going into the womens cosmetics aisle. At 6'1", 225 and a gray beard...I can't imagine anyone worrying about it. I don't.
 
I just clean the area with alcohol and then apply the nail polish liberally and just cover the whole area and let it stand 15 minutes or so then wipe off with a non-acetone fingernail polish remover then reapply nail polish if needed and do the process over again.

I wonder how yellow would look, I'm a Steelers fan and the yellow & Black would be pretty cool. Anyone done that?
 
Just regular rubbing alcohol like the dollar store kind ? I'm going to redo it today in baby blue

I use crayons and a white paint pen....mainly because there is no way I'm going to walk into Walmart and buy nail polish :)

Why not, you buy a gun and then color on it like a preschooler. Then come onto a gun forum to show your art work...seems about the same to me....

Was actually thinking of having mine tie-dyed...maybe some peace symbols or psychedelic bus look eh? :)
 
Some of you guys seem a little harsh. My guns are a hobby of mine and I see no reason not to have fun with it and make your guns your own. I wouldn't do it with my carry gun or any other expensive weapon, but I see no problem with it on your range gun(s).
 
Im just giving MR. crunch a hard time brah.....I totally understand its his gun and he can tie-dye (do it) if he wants...his shiet!!!
 
I did the fingernail polish (white on my black M&P 45) and it looks very sharp.

I don't suggest that you leave it for 15 minutes, I found that once you put it on, then take an old credit card or business card and scrape the excess off and then almost immediately lightly wipe the excess with a paper towel (with non-acetone polish remover) worked way better as it didn't take much to get the stuff off where it wasn't supposed to be and the polish stayed in the engraved portion just fine.
 
OK, so I went to the makeup section and picked up several nail polishes. Also picked up a nail sealer for the annoying split nail that has bothered me for a decade. Who knew they made something besides superglue and band-aids to fix that.

Anyway, nobody confused me for being gay and tried to pick me up or even looked at me funny. So, if your experience is like mine, you will be fine.

I use a Q-Tip and work isopropyl alcohol into the recess, then using a white nail polish liberally apply it to the area you want filled in, then after about five minutes I take non acetone nail polish remover and a rag or paper towel and gently wipe off the excess nail polish,then examine and see if a reapplication of nail polish is needed and reapply and repeat the removal of excess polish as necessary, takes less then ten minutes per gun.

Look closely at my avatar of my 40C and you will see the white polish on it which I did about three months ago and it still looks the same and has has at least 500 rounds shot through it since I first painted it!

You can change it anytime you wish by using a Q-Tip and nail polish remover and then degreasing again with isopropyl and either leaving the gun alone or using another color!

Some of you guys sound like a-holes with your responses. Have some common courtesy or some manners. Let the guy make his gun a little fancy if he wants. All changes to a gun have to be practical? No one ever paid extra for a chrome grill or something else to make their car or truck look better?

I'm happily married with 3 kids. I'm sure some of you are close to the same situation. Do you really care what people at walmart think???

Wow, u just wake up bro? I think opinions are ok, bad or good. Im sure he didn't expect everyone to be in lustfully in love with the idea of coloring the letters on a gun. I honestly think it looks like poopoo, but I didn't really say that, but its his gun and everyone's forum.....

I'm a Vikings fan and Purple just won't show up, so I'm going with gold(Testers hobby paint). Haven't done it yet(not a priority), but have the paint.

Hmm... You're probably right. Maybe I was a little harsh so I apologize. That is what I get for posting when I'm tired. It just bothers me when people don't feel the need to be polite, step past constructful criticism, and call the guy a preschooler for using crayon to personalize his gun. I need to take McBears advice. Keep calm and carry on.
 
Everybody's got their own thing. Personally I think that camo rifles look stupid even though a lot of people do it but hey, that's me.

Personally I like strong contrasts so the white lettering on a black gun appeals to me. It's just a small change and a lot of people don't even notice it at first and hey, if I wanted an ugly plain block of steel and plastic I would have just gotten a Glock anyhow. :)
 
I kinda liked this in the late 1990s when I saw it for the first time. I tried it a few times myself.

Now, I just think it looks terrible, personally.
 
opinions are like armpits, if you don't wash them and put deodorant on them, they all stink. Just saying.
 
yep I agree,

Fat B, although I dont like the coloring of the letters, I was just giving Mr. crunch and the others who do like it a hard time, I hope, even though im not a fan of it, they know what i say really doesnt matter..
 
I prefer the Crayola method better, The nail polish I used caused some issues with the nail polish remover with the slide.
 
I've used the crayon method for decades and I have have never had a problem with it wearing away quickly. It takes years and years and years.
