A buddy of mine wants to make a trade with me. I have a S&W Model 29-2 4" blue mint and a 629-1 SS 3" (that you never see anymore). He will take either on an even up trade for a S&W MP-223. WHICH PISTOL WOULD YOU LET GO???
Thanks for the opinions.

If I wanted an AR, I would trade the 29-2 for it.

I would not make that trade no way no how! Your revolver are a more practical gun than any AR. Do not get me wrong I have had a few that i lost in a tragic boating accident. They are a fine weapon i carried a M4 for a few years also while in the Army, but there is nothing more fun and useful than a S&W revolver. You can carry the 4" model 29 you cant hide a AR under your shirt lol. I myself just LOVE my Smith wheelguns!!!!! I would never ever trade any of them they are a part of me.

I would pass up on the deal also. AR's will be a dime a dozen in a few months where them pistols could be impossible to replace. Sounds like your friends just taking advantage of the current market.

I have a 29-2 4" in hard chrome, I would not trade it for a mp223.
May be my favorite pistol.
Yah, I do have a olympic arms ultra match ss 223 on agator lower and while it is a rel nice rig I could build it all over again and the same could not be said for my or yours older n revolvers.

I would trade either one right now, you can sell the M/P for double the value of either of the pistols and go buy two s/w revolvers.
but I would let the 29 go before the 629.

I'll bet he does! I wouldn't swap, but I'd ask him about stock market info, he sounds like a savvy trader.:)
Edit: yeah, smokeys right. You can find a replacement for either of them and have cash left over, so it's a sentimental attachement decision, sounds like to me.you don't have to be stuck with a army rifle.

Don't do it. We don't know whether the coming AR regs mean grandfathering or confiscating, but you have to know the day is coming when they'll want those semi's. Big bore revolvers are going to rule the earth some day. And as one or more guys said, they're still making ARs, and they're not making -2s or 3" -3s (or whatever it is). If I had 'em, I'd give you two AR's for the 3".

No Deal - wait until the frenzy is over and buy your 223

This...

Once "nothing happens", there will be a ton of people who dont even know how to fire them dumping them for pennies on the dollar.

I "invested" in a Colt AR15 during the last hysteria...then took a big loss. If you trade, I'd flip the AR nexr day.

Living in California, we already have ham fisted regs on AR and AK types. All unmodified (non neutered) are considered super duper felonies.

This is what's coming if the hoplophobes get their way.

Stay away from the AR until the dust settles and you know what's going to be required.

Besides, those roscoe's sound much nicer IMO.
