Credit card reader companies discriminate against gun buyers and sellers

Note to anyone that encounters a purchase with the use of SQUARE credit card transactions. I guess they are being used at gun shows and the companies didn't like that just my thoughts.

received this today from Manny Dela Cruz form Gun Auction.

ATTENTION SQUARE CUSTOMERS: As of 5/9/13 Square has changed their underwriting policy to restrict the card present swiped sale of "firearms, firearms parts or hardware, and ammunition; or weapons and other devices designed to cause physical injury."

Here are other companies that don't accept firearm purchase.

PayAnywhere, as a prohibition was not apparent on their posted terms and conditions. Using their website chat function, they were asked "Does PayAnywhere allow or prohibit firearms sales with its reader?" and a representative with the screen name Quanita responded "Yes we do prohibit firearm sales on the PayAnywhere accounts."
Molpay prohibits Firearms / weapons Ammunition I confirmed this.

It also appears Intuit wants nothing to do with the firearms business.

Comcast disallowed firearms-related advertising, even though its franchise agreements for rights of way are required to serve the public interest

I know paypal will accept some firearm related purchases but not mags and firearms not sure what else. Comfirmed by me.

What other companies do you know of. I know it's hard but I could not deal with them, for local sales layaway or cash but cards are convenient for online sales as you have some protection.

I have heard Bank of America , doesn't accept some firearm, firearm related sales but I found this online earlier today.

Kind of two faced but I read them today also.

I noticed the change in policy recently with Square. I only have it because I do some business with the government and it pays with credit cards. I did sell a scope once and processed the payment with Square and I think they would have a hard time enforcing discreet sales between individuals, but of course a business won't get away with it.

Wouldn't using a credit card to buy a gun be somewhat of a form of registration?? The cop shows always use credit card receipts to track who bought what where and when.....

I've asked why they changed from disallowing Internet firearm sales (reasonable IMO) to disallowing all sales. I'll post if I get an answer.

We routinely use Square to accept credit cards at our store. I 'll have to rethink that now...

Thanks for the info. If the top brass in a business won't do legitimate firearms transactions through their credit card biz, etc - - IMO its a good idea to pull money from them. If BAC (BofAmerica), Citi, etc does this kinda thing - the best response is to pull your money out of their banks and put it in financially sound local small private banks and credit unions (which isnt a bad idea to do anyway, but thats another topic).
The banking system is such that they leverage up deposits many times to make loans and conduct business. Pulling out your deposits has a major impact on them.

Speaking of "designed to inflict physical injury", I wonder if they will ring up boxing gloves--or worse, hockey sticks!

Or anything in those hardshell bubble packs that can't be opened without a chainsaw and four or five Band-Aids.

Maybe you should have ask if they were going to ban payment for knives, high speed auto parts,baseball bats, etc they all have been used to kill or maim.

Buying most anything on credit cards, "especially guns" is a really bad idea. Believe me I know.

I don't know how the card servicing company would have any idea what was being purchased unless the merchant's *** system was somehow transmitting additional data. A simple credit card swipe captures nothing but the account number and the amount, along with the merchant's ID. When I was in retail, even though I had a full inventory management *** system, it was separate from the credit card terminal and the card service knew nothing except it was a transaction with "The Solutions Store".

How is disallowing net sales at all reasonable? To complete the transaction, it must be shipped to, and processed through, an licensed dealer. Nothing like buying a case of wine online!

The cop shows also show a crime getting solved in an hour and the newest forensic tests available even to the 5 member police department which will allow one by just using some majic dust and a black light to determine the race, sex and creed of the bad guy and also what he had for lunch the day of the crime.
The DA's love those shows Makes for an interesting interplay twixt jurors and defense counsel during voir dire.

Wel, I hate to be the one to say it, but I have several weapons with ammo, the express purpose of which is to cause as great an injury as possible, or even death. I hope to God I never have to use them as such but by God that's why I bought them and I'm not ashamed nor afraid to say it.

Asked a similar question on Paypal and now my Paypal Account is blocked because they think I was using it improperly! Here is what I got from them.

hmm - might just have to stop using pay pal - of course if I could get my wife on board with my plans to get out of debt and stay that way they there would no need to use credit cards for such things (well, except that it is difficult to send cash through the internet).
