Is there a way to get your credit score free? The annual free credit report does not include your score. Thanks!

Got mine yesterday for free from my bank. I had called them to inquire about getting a CC through them. The loan officer gave me mine over the phone while filling out the app. (got the card too)

From Consumer Reports website Credit Reports | Protect Your Rights - Consumer Reports. I've gotten reports from all three services for free online in the past, but you do have to provide your SSN online. Make sure your computer is secure.

It still won't give the score though. I don't think you can get your score for free. And I don't know how true, but I've been told numerous times, every timethere is an inquiry on your report your score drops for a certain time.

True, this will only get you your credit report from each of the three reporting agencies. If you want to know your "score" you will have to pay the scoring agency that the party you are asking credit from uses, such as FICO. If you are denied credit, you are entitled to know why for free. I've only used the link to check to make sure my reports are correct, not what my rating or score is.

Ill second credit karma. Annualcreditreport.com is good for report but something like $8 to get credit score.

Some credit card companies have programs that include score but maybe only trial.

Lifelock provides a monthly credit score along with their other services but is about $250 a year.

Depending on your goals you may not need to check your score. Finding and fixing problems on your report is good. Improving credit involves a number of factors that can be discovered without knowing what your score is although a site like credit karma can help test what will have the best effect.

Generally. Too many inquiries hurts your score which means do not apply for any new credit for 6 months or more (up to two years) to get a boost (only really matters if you have lots of inquiries as that makes it look like you are desperately trying to get credit and are being turned down)

Any single account with more than 30% of the credit limit charged will have negative impact as will >30% overall. Primary way to fix that is to pay things down but might be small boost if you can shift things around so no one account is over 30%.

If you have late payments nothing you can do but wait till they drop off.

If you have bankruptcy nothing you can do till it drops off.

Average age of accounts is a small factor so don't close old accounts even if you are not using them.

Too many accounts can be negative or not enough types of credit can be negative. Types being revolving credit, loans, and installment accounts (car lease).

KJM provided all the instructions how to have free credit reports for a year. Some CUs provide free report, not sure how often it can be obtained though...
