I recently watched a program on Netflix about Russia's toughest prisons. No country club living there ... extremely bad people treated as extremely bad people. Some of the individuals interviewed made Charles Manson seem cordial in comparison.

That was very insightful, thanks! Apologies for the slight drift; when Mickey Rourke was offered the role of "Ivan Vanko" in Iron Man 2 he spent a lot of time researching Russian gangs/tattoos to make his authentic and telling their own tale.

Okay, back to our regularly scheduled thread.

If it's the same program I saw, one of them was not only a serial killer but a cannibal.

Was that the prison with the enormous, ferocious dogs? Terrifying animals.

Not only did I not see what was expected, I got a warning that a dangerous script is running on that page.

Dogs? You saw dogs? I saw bears!

Black Dolphin prison. Only one personer was ever released from there on an overturned sentence. Every other prisoner that exited that prison did so in a body bad.

I liked their rooms though. A cell within a cell within a locked room within a prison. Wake up, make your bad, eat and stand for the next 10 hrs while being constantly monitored via cctv. If let out of the cell prisoner walks hunched over with 2 guards on each side, 2 up front and one in the back with one of those bears on a leash. Yes that's no joke.

The dogs are Caucasian shepherds. They live throughout central and eastern Europe and Central Asia and Afghanistan. Related to the Tibet mastiff and the Saint Bernard. Mean suckers that can make the pit bull look like a chihuahua

I had to Google those dogs after reading that description of them. It says they are used to hunt bears, so not a doggy I'd care to mess with!

Institutionalized inhumanity -- even to the worst of society -- is a telling measure of the depravity of the system that imposes it.

The prisoners there fully deserve to be incarcerated for life without parole. That doesn't mean, though, that they should be tortured in the ways described. It's sickening. :(

No one is tortured. They stay in their cell all day. When they leave the cell they have to walk hunched over with 5 guards and 1 dog. What's so tortured about that

I saw a 2 hr doc on Russian tattoo and meanings. Was pretty interesting to say the least.

Looked a lot like a payday trip to Wally World. The women look just as bad.

I don't know if it is the same one or not. But the documentary I saw on criminal tattoos said Russia emptied out their prisons, by giving them fake credentials and allowing them to come to America as refugees. Ed.

It was interesting. I've seen dirtbags around here with tears tattooed on their face. Is that supposed to mean how many times they've been in prison? Or how many people they've killed? Or what?

For sure it means they're stupid. I mean c'mon why advertise you're a crook?
