Crimson Trace Lasergrip

Bought a pair of Lasergrip LG-307, K frame square butt to put on my Smith and Wesson model 17-2 revolver. When installed there is about a 1/4 inch gap at the bottom of the frame at the rear part. A local sporting goods store, Green Top, was having an expo that weekend and Crimson Trace was listed to be there. Took the pistol and grips and showed them to the man that said he worked at the factory. He seemed surprised about the gap. He wrote their support phone number and said to call and request a RMA. Called today and was told the gap is normal and if it bothered me to tape or fill it in. All I wanted to hear. I will be returning them thru AMAZON, who had no problem with a return. Has anyone else here bought the grips and noticed the gap?

I have had mixed success with Crimson Trace. My 17-1 has a set like yours that fit well with no gap. My 649-2 grips fit well. I tried a set for my 28-2 and could not get these to fit at all even after they sent me a new set to try and for my 34-1 I could not fit a set either. I think their quality control is grossly lacking. I do not believe that your gap is normal!!

I have 2 older sets that fit and work perfectly. They have stayed zeroed for many years of shooting. No gaps in the fit. Don't know about newer ones.

I too have a set, and several other Crimson Trace versions for S&W, they all fit well.

Is it possible that your grip-pin may be off-center in the frame holding one of the grips out, not allowing it to seat fully against the frame??

My only experience with them is on a 1911 - maybe 8 years old. Fit & work fine.

The concept is good. They do work and can be sighted in. But the construction is flimsy for the price. I hope someday someone will produce a version with quality on par with a S&W revolver. I'm not surprised to hear about a fit issue

I have on my 64-3. There is a filler piece when using on a K frame at the top back of the grip. If on a N frame, you don't need it.
