I have the same setup as pineappleshooter. The 405 grips are thin, and do not extend below the grip frame. But I do NOT find them comfortable to shoot more than 5-10 of my+P daily-carry rounds. I like to shoot my J frames a LOT when I get to the range (it's an hour's drive each way, so I try to make the most of each trip) and I just can't take the 442/CT 405 combination for long. In fairness, I will say that the 405s are at least as comfortable as the standard boot grips that came on the gun - which I find to be the LEAST comfortable grips I've ever shot on a J frame, whether lightweight or steel frame.
Even on my heavier steel guns, 49 and 649, the CT grip's narrow width just doesn't make for comfortable shooting for MY hands, even with the padded backstrap. If I had it to do over I'd look a lot harder at the 305, despite its larger size.
That said, the 442 with 405 grip IS what I carry daily. It disappears if I have to put it in a pocket, and is invisible in its usual carry position, an IWB holster. I dry fire it regularly, and just KNOW that if I have to fire it, I will get a hole wherever the red dot is at the time the hammer falls.
