I admit I have not used a CP much. Put boneless chicken thighs, chunked up potatoes, carrots, and celery with chicken broth and cream of chicken soup. Started it at 12:30 pm on high. It is now 10:15 pm Michigan time and can't break potatoes or carrots with a hammer. Needless to say we went out for dinner. Crock pot headed to the curb.

Had that happen once on a old crock pot my mother gave me .It worked fine thru my first marriage.Fifteen or twenty yrs later when I was divorced not so well.Public service announcement if you leave the bean soup on for 12-14 hours and beans are still crunchy don't eat them!! When they swell up in your stomach BAD THINGS happen very hard on septic tank.

I just threw one away that was about 25 years old, I think.
They usually get hand hot on the side when heated to a low temp just right for a long cook time.
And they take a while to heat up after you turn them on.
But heat up they do, when operating properly.

INSULATE THE LID, & PREHEAT.

Put some padded oven mits on the lid, stuff heats up much quicker. Also preheat the ceramic with a tea kettle of boiling water to get it warmed up. We have 5 of them in various sizes. They should go for 15-20 years. I pick them up for a few bucks at garage sales, or buy em new at waly world for 15-20$, or so. Got my $'s worth for sure. I can put a frozen pork shoulder in one (just need to cut app 4-5" of the leg bone off so it fits, add 12oz's of BBQ, teriyaki, mojo sauce, cover & come back in 8 hours & it's fall off the bone.

Had an Angus roast yesterday for Sunday Dinner. Cooked in the crock pot all night long. It just fell apart when it was removed from the pot. Wife just dumped some cream of chicken soup on top of it and turned it on.

Was great eating, the gravy was really good over a homemade biscuit.

Have a blessed day,

Leon

Pork Chops (any variety), seasoning, chopped onion, minced garlic, cream of mushroom soup, cream sherry/white wine. Cook on high four to six hours depending on how thick they are and how tender you want them. Serve with rice or potato's and the veggie of your choice. bon appetite, hardcase60
