Greetings.

My apologies if this is covered on another thread and if directed, I'll gladly move on.

Does anyone know who might make a quality leather cross draw holster for a M657 4" N Frame? I'm grateful for any reply or information.

Many thanks.

The Bianchi 111 Cyclone is a very good one that can be worn cross draw or strong side. It is a favorite of mine. I also like the Galco DAO, also one that can worn either way.

Dittos for the Bianchi 111 cyclone. I have happily used used one since the late 70's. I have used them for Blackhawks, Redhawks and several different N frames. Sometimes, you can find an original on EBAY that was made specifically for the N Frame 4 inch.

Another Bianchi Cyclone user here. As previously stated, can be worn strong side, or cross draw.

I've carried cross-draw for 40 years. A good tip ( already posted) is don't search just for "cross-draw" holsters, as they seem to be limited. Expand your search to include "rear cant" strong side holsters; they simply slide to your other side and become a "cross-draw". :)

The Dual Position Phoenix is very popular down here. It comes with a tension screw (sometimes two) and so we cut off the thumbsnap on both sides. The leather top is refinished and then we take the holster to this little shoe-repair guy who redoes the stitching. They come out looking great and work VERY well.

They can be worn strong-side pointing back, strong-side pointing front or crossdraw. Mexican Practical Shooting does not discriminate against the crossdraw, just turn slightly when you draw. The Dual Position Phoenix has worked out better than the Bianchi Cyclone or the Galco Outdoorsman (I think it's called) because they are made of slightly thicker, sturdier leather up top and don't become "floppy" when the thumbsnaps are cut away.

I wear my 6 inch holster in the appendix position. I have a second one for the 4 inch Heavy Duty (which surprisingly has two tension screws, top and bottom) that I often wear with the rearward cant.

Milt Sparks also makes an excellent crossdraw holster. Well, it can either be crossdraw or regular draw, you have to specify as it doesn't come with both methods at once like the Galco holster.

The Sparks holster costs about 1/3 more than the Galco Dual Action Phoenix and takes about 5 months to get. On the other hand, it's excellently made and does exactly what it's supposed to. I have both and use either-or depending on what type of course we're shooting.

The Galco is cheaper, can be worn in any position, and gets to you quickly but needs to be modified unless you don't mind the thumbsnap. We use these as competition holsters so we only want a tension device, nothing more. The Milt Sparks holster costs more, takes longer to get and you have to specify in advance how it will be worn but needs no modifications once it arrives. I think the Sparks holster is the Hackathorn Special for Revolvers if I remember correctly.

Both are good.
